Chapter 306
โWhat did you mean by that?โ Valerian snapped with frustration.
Calliope chuckled softly, โI meant it literally. Iโm genuinely impressed. I should learn from Lisette how to say something and have the whole family rally around me.โ
She leaned closer, scrutinizing the group before her. โDonโt you think you got a bit carried away earlier?โ
โI never said Lisette had to leave the Jewell family, did I? She brought it up herself,โ Calliope shrugged. โShe decided to leave on her own. I didnโt use that as leverage. Whether she leaves or not, I donโt know the Mr. Lopez youโre talking about, and I wonโt help.โ
โOh, by the way, Iโm already out of the Jewell family whether she leaves. I have no ties with the Jewell family anymore. Do you want me to show you the signed papers again? Youโve all signed it, remember?โ
Calliope rested her chin in her hand, looking innocently at them. โI got kicked out of the Jewell family. How could I influence whether Lisette stays or goes? Am I that powerful?โ
Monty and his sons were dumbstruck by her words. It dawned on them that Calliope hadnโt threatened anyone. Lisette had jumped to conclusions, and theyโd assumed she was getting bullied. But in reality, that wasnโt the case.
The four of them exchanged uneasy glances before turning to Lisette. Still, their focus quickly shifted back to Mr. Lopez.
Monty tried to persuade Calliope again, but her resolve was unshakeable. She insisted she didnโt know Dante.
Despite their skepticism, they had no choice but to accept her word. Besides, Silas was sitting nearby, and his imposing presence kept them from pushing further.
โWell, itโs time for you gentlemen to leave, if thatโs all,โ Silas said, making it clear theyโd overstayed their welcome. โYouโre interrupting my wifeโs downtime.โ
Monty looked conflicted.
โForget it, Dad,โ Ulysses said. โIf she doesnโt help, so be it. The Jewell family has other avenues to explore.โ
โMr. Myers,โ Monty addressed Silas, clinging to a thread of hope. โI am your father-in-law, after all. Wonโt you reconsider helping us?โ
โMy wife is no longer part of the Jewell family,โ Silas stated coldly. โSo youโre not my father-in-law anymore.โ
โDad, letโs go,โ Ulysses urged. โWeโll never ask her for anything again. She thinks she can coast through life like this?โ
The group stormed out, seething with anger.
Calliope called out after them, โLisette, donโt forget to clean up your mess.โ
Lisette froze, her face flushed with embarrassment, although her lips were pale. She couldnโt believe Calliope had brought up her accident before Silas again. It was mortifying.
โCalliope, canโt you have your staff take care of it?โ Ulysses snarled, turning back.
โWhy should my staff handle someone elseโs mess?โ Calliope shrugged, โI care about my housekeeper.โ
โBut donโt you care about Lisette?โ
