Chapter 328

The authorities hadnโ€™t spilled many details, so, to her classmates, it seemed she took a sudden leave of absence.

As rumors tend to do, they spiraled out of control, and soon she was labeled as someone who got expelled.

And who did she have to thank for that? Lisette, of course.

Even though she had no clue what was happening, she decided to spread the worst possible version of events.

Calliope shrugged it off and left home, picking up Portia.

The moment Portia got in the car, she was fuming.

โ€œCan you believe those idiots? Jumping to conclusions like that, just because you got in a car. What? Does sitting in a car mean youโ€™re sleeping around? I swear, I spent all night ranting about it, but then they had the nerve to call me one of your โ€˜hired defendersโ€™! Unbelievable! These morons have no idea what theyโ€™re talking about.โ€

โ€œAnd a reunion now, of all times? It feels like a setup to mess with you! Who the hell leaked those photos anyway?โ€

Calliope kept her eyes on the road, her voice calm and steady, โ€œDonโ€™t get worked up. Iโ€™m fine. Let them talk. Weโ€™re going to this reunion. If theyโ€™re going to insult me, they can do it to my face.โ€

โ€œYeah, letโ€™s see if they dare say it in person. Iโ€™ll give them a piece of my mind!โ€ Portia squinted, her eyes gleaming with determination. โ€œIโ€™m ready to fight back!โ€

She suddenly turned, her curiosity piqued, โ€œBy the way, did Silas see this? He doesnโ€™t doubt you, does he?โ€

โ€œNope,โ€ Calliope replied, โ€œHe trusts me.โ€

โ€œThank goodness!โ€ Portia sighed with relief, patting her chest. โ€œI was worried he might not believe you. As long as heโ€™s on your side, everything will be fine. But seriously, this whole thing is just so unfair. You need to clear your name.โ€

โ€œYeah, Iโ€™ve got a plan,โ€ Calliope assured her.

Calliope didnโ€™t even have to say much. The truth would come out soon enough. Lisette was in for a disappointment.

Calliope and Portia arrived at the hotel for the reunion. When they got there, it was already bustling with people. โ€œWow, thereโ€™s a ton of people here. It doesnโ€™t look like itโ€™s just our class,โ€ Portia commented, linking her arm with Calliopeโ€™s.

โ€œIt looks like a gradeโ€™s reunion,โ€ Calliope observed. With one glance at the banquet hall, she could tell this wasnโ€™t a small gathering. As they stood by the entrance, they could hear the buzz of conversation inside, much of it centered around Calliope.

โ€œIs Calliope going to show up?โ€

โ€œDid she say sheโ€™d come? Jeez, is she that kind of person? If I pay her, can I sleep with her, too?โ€

โ€œShe was the queen of our grade. What a joke!โ€

โ€œLisette, isnโ€™t she your sister? You know anything about this?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t knowโ€ฆโ€

โ€œJudging by whatโ€™s online, itโ€™s probably true.โ€

โ€œWow, she seemed so clean-cut before. What a surprise!โ€

โ€œAnd to think she married Silas. You think she could even get him to come here?โ€

โ€œWith a scandal like this? No way Silas shows up!โ€

โ€œJust wait, Calliope and Silas will divorce!โ€

โ€œOh please, those two are solid, Calliope and Silas trust each other! Unlike you lot, gossiping behind their backs!โ€ Portia couldnโ€™t take it anymore. She let go of Calliope and stormed into the room.
