Chapter 362

โ€œIs there really anything left for us to discuss? Calliope raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. Fine, go ahead, Iโ€™m all ears.โ€

โ€œCallie, our company is in deep trouble, and you know it. Ever since the whole Mr. Lopez debacle, things have been going downhill. Now, with all that stuff about your childhood coming out, the board is in an uproar. I really need you to come to the office and clear things up. It wonโ€™t take much of your time, I promise. We just need to put on a show, pretend like weโ€™re one big happy family, and let bygones be bygones, okay?โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ve had dinner, and itโ€™s time to let the past be the past, right?โ€ Monty looked at Calliope, hope shining in his eyes. โ€œTrust me, from now on, weโ€™re going to treat you right. You want the big room? Weโ€™ll have it ready for you right away! A swing set, whatever you missed out on as a kid, Dadโ€™s got it covered now! Everything you didnโ€™t have growing up, Iโ€™ll make it up to you, how does that sound?โ€

Calliope crossed her arms, her expression unreadable. โ€œThat little girl from the past? She doesnโ€™t exist anymore.โ€

Monty was taken aback for a moment. โ€œCallie, I know youโ€™ve grown up, and maybe you donโ€™t care about those things anymore. Just tell me what you want now, and Iโ€™ll make it happen!โ€

โ€œNow, huh?โ€ Calliope smirked. โ€œWhat I want, you canโ€™t afford.โ€

โ€œHow do you know I canโ€™t give it to you if you donโ€™t say it?โ€ Monty pressed earnestly.

โ€œI want the Jewell Group,โ€ Calliope stated, her eyes steady.

Monty stammered, โ€œThatโ€™s not funny, Callie.โ€

She smiled, but there was no humor in it. โ€œOh, Iโ€™m not joking. I want the Jewell Group.โ€

Monty shook his head. โ€œCallie, thatโ€™s impossible. I have other children too, your brothers, and it wouldnโ€™t be fair to give everything to you.โ€

Calliopeโ€™s eyes narrowed. โ€œFair? When was fairness ever a thing when I was growing up?โ€

Monty furrowed his brow. โ€œCallie, if you save the company, I will be grateful!โ€

Calliope gave him a cool glance. โ€œIโ€™m asking for the company because thatโ€™s the only way to truly save it. In your hands, itโ€™s doomed.โ€

โ€œCallie, do you even know how to run a company?โ€ Horatio chimed in, unable to stay quiet any longer. โ€œLook, we know youโ€™re upset. I, Valerian, Ulysses, even Lisette, we donโ€™t care about taking over. But do you have any experience in this? Running a company isnโ€™t as easy as just wanting it. Handing it back to you doesnโ€™t guarantee its survival either. We just need you to help restore our familyโ€™s reputation. Let Dad handle the business.โ€

Calliope fixed Monty with a piercing stare. โ€œIs that so? If Mr. Jewell could manage the company, it wouldnโ€™t have ended up here in the first place!โ€

โ€œAnd Mr. Horatio, how do you know I canโ€™t run a company? Do you have any idea what Iโ€™ve done? Maybe, just maybe, Iโ€™m more capable than you think. I might even have a bigger empire under my belt than the Jewell Group.โ€

Horatio shook his head. โ€œIโ€™m not joking, Callie.โ€

โ€œNeither am I,โ€ she replied, her voice steady as a rock.

Just then, the door swung open. A man strode in, raising a glass with a charming grin plastered across his face.
