Chapter 455

Lance stood on the helicopter, looking a bit hurt as he glanced at Calliope. “Alright then, I’ll come back for you in two days.” He threw her a charming wink and blew a kiss before the helicopter took off into the sky.

Once the helicopter was out of sight, Calliope closed the window and turned around to find everyone staring at her with expressions that were a mix of awe and disbelief.

It was hard not to be impressed; after all, it was the infamous JK Group. Their reputation was built on some, let’s say, less-than-legal activities back in the day, including arms deals… Not only was JK Group still a powerhouse, but they were known for their once fearsome reputation.

Everyone silently wondered how she had known someone from the JK Group. Wasn’t she supposed to be the one with no skills, the underdog? Yet here she was, with such impressive connections.

“Ms. Jewell, do you really know someone from the JK Group? That was the youngest son, right?” someone finally mustered the courage to ask. “Are you close with him?”

Calliope nodded. “You could say that. I did save his life once.”

The room went silent. Well, that explained it.

Everyone exchanged glances, suddenly realizing that Calliope’s network was much more formidable than they had imagined. Even the second-in-line successor of JK Group owed her one. It even seemed like he was a bit intimidated by her. Clearly, she was more than capable.

Recalling the project proposals Calliope had presented, it dawned on them that she was indeed quite competent.

“Ms. Jewell, we have great respect for you!”

“We’re counting on you to lead the company to greater heights!”

“Indeed, Ms. Jewell, you’re so exceptional, perfect for managing the company!”

“Please, reach out to us if you need anything!”

“Since there’s nothing else, we’ll be on our way! The company is yours to manage, Ms. Jewell! No objections from us!”

The board members all stood up. They cast a glance at Monty, unanimously deciding that Calliope was a powerful force to be reckoned with. Monty just didn’t measure up.

Soon, the room cleared out, leaving only Monty, Horatio, Calliope, and Franco behind.

Monty and Franco were still in shock. Knowing Calliope was impressive and witnessing someone they could hardly even approach come to seek her help were two different things. Both of them struggled to reconcile their previous underestimation of her abilities with the reality before them. Their emotions were a tangled mess.

Calliope, however, remained composed. “Why are you just standing there? Get back to work!”

With that, she walked out with Franco in tow.

Once they were alone, Monty couldn’t help but exchange a glance with Horatio.

“Horatio… we really misjudged her. She’s much more capable than we thought. We should treat her better.”

Horatio nodded. “She really is.”

His face looked stern. If Lance sought her out to treat his brother, then her medical skills must be exceptional.

Could she really heal his legs?

Once, he had mistakenly thought Lisette cured his legs, and had always favored her. Would Calliope hold a grudge and not put in her full effort?

Horatio furrowed his brow in worry. But truth be told, he had already consulted numerous specialists worldwide these days, and they all gave him the same grim prognosis. Most of them said that only the Miracle Doctor could help him. Meaning, only Calliope could give him a chance to walk again.
