Chapter 62
โYeah,โ Silas nodded.
Fagan glanced at Silas, surprised. Mr. Myers had always remarked about how the youngest Lynch boy was smart โ but a bit too green. Fagan couldnโt quite figure out what had made Silas change his mind so suddenly. But that wasnโt really important. Seeing Mr. Myers in a good mood today, it seemed like Wynton was in for some luck.
โGot it, Iโll handle it right away.โ
Fagan nodded and was about to leave when the office door swung open unexpectedly. The secretary behind him looked flustered, repeatedly apologizing to Silas. โMr. Myers, Iโm so sorry. Ms. Lisette Jewell insisted on coming in. She said she has something important to discuss with you, and I couldnโt stop her!โ
Fagan glanced back and then looked over at Silas.
โYou all can leave us.โ
Silas nodded slightly at Fagan. He waited for the room to clear before he looked up at Lisette, who was wearing a rather revealing dress. She had clearly dressed to impress, with a neckline that left little to the imagination. She even tossed her hair back in a flirtatious gesture.
โMr. Myers, sorry to interrupt, but I have something important to discuss with you.โ
โYou know youโre interrupting, and you know youโre sorry?โ Silas looked at her, his gaze icy. There was an undercurrent of something dangerous in his eyes.
Lisette smiled faintly, unfazed. โIโm here to talk about Calliope. I know sheโs been a thorn in your side for quite some time, hasnโt she? Sheโs got something over you, right? Iโm here to help you. I understand sheโs holding something over you, and youโre forced to comply. That must be infuriating. I have a way to help you deal with that nuisance.โ
Lisette settled into the chair opposite Silas, leaning forward to accentuate her plump figure. She was quite pleased with her own body, all curves and confidence. Sheโd had a little work done on her face too, and while it might not be the natural beauty that Calliope had, plenty of men preferred her style. She was confident that Silas would be more interested in her. After all, what was Calliope? She was useless and naive, lacking Lisetteโs capabilities and education. Lisette had made quite a name for herself at the Jewell Group, while Calliope couldnโt even get her foot in the door. For someone like Silas, the woman by his side had to have some substance; he couldnโt afford to be embarrassed by her in public.
Silas let out a scornful laugh. โWho said I was forced to comply?โ
โI guessed it.โ Lisette leaned in closer, reaching for Silasโs hand.
Silas subtly leaned back, avoiding her touch.
Lisette didnโt mind. She suddenly stood up and leaned even closer. โMr. Myers, Calliope isnโt right for you. Donโt you see that Iโm much better? Calliope canโt bring you any tangible benefits, but I can. Iโm more capable than she is!โ
Her gaze was sharp as she stared at Silas. Even though his presence was intimidating, she held her ground. She curled her lips into a smile. โMr. Myers, you could easily kick Calliope to the curb. Youโve already done her a favor, itโs time to call it even. If sheโs got something on you, I can help you deal with that too.โ
Silas remained silent, looking at her with cold indifference. There was a slight curve to his lips, but his smile was laced with a chill.
