Chapter 64

Then, she received a message from Wynton.

Wynton sent, โ€œHey Calliope, Iโ€™m here to vouch for Mr. Myers. He hasnโ€™t done anything shady behind your back! Check this out, itโ€™s what I saw today outside the Baker Group building! Your sister is really something else, trying to seduce your husband.โ€

Calliope stared at the flurry of messages from Wynton, noticing the sign with Lisetteโ€™s name on it.

Right there was Lisetteโ€™s picture, clearly a screenshot from security footage.

The sign was boldly displayed at the entrance of the building, announcing to the world that Lisette was banned from entering.

Calliope could already imagine Lisetteโ€™s face turning beet red with anger.

Wynton excitedly recounted the incident to Calliope. He explained how Lisette tried to seduce Silas, but Silas, being the epitome of integrity, not only resisted her advances but also kicked her out. To make an example out of her, he even placed the sign at the entrance.

Wynton declared that Silas really loved Calliope and Lisette had embarrassed herself beyond belief. No matter how good Lisetteโ€™s reputation was before, from now on, she was just a desperate woman.

Calliope wasnโ€™t quite sure who this Wynton was, but she found him amusing. She had just typed a quick thank you when Zeldaโ€™s call came through.

Seeing Zeldaโ€™s name flash on her phone, Calliope knew the news had already spread.

Sure enough, as soon as she answered, Zeldaโ€™s irate voice filled her ears.

โ€œCalliope, have you lost your mind? Do you want to ruin Lisette? She was just visiting Silas for some work-related discussion, and youโ€™ve turned it into this huge scandal? How could you be so venomous? Sheโ€™s your sister, even though sheโ€™s not blood related, but after all this time, isnโ€™t there any bond between you two? Why canโ€™t you cut her some slack? She is younger than you! As the older sister, donโ€™t you know better? How did I end up with such a spiteful child like you?โ€

Zelda berated her relentlessly over the phone. Calliope didnโ€™t even get a chance to defend herself.

But she was used to it by now. Calmly, she held her phone away from her ear, completely tuning out Zeldaโ€™s tirade.

Once Zelda had exhausted herself and quieted down, Calliope finally spoke, โ€œZelda, are you done?โ€

โ€œWhat kind of attitude is that? Is this how you speak to your mother?โ€ Zelda was fuming.

โ€œAnd what should I do? Call you โ€˜Dearest Momโ€™ after youโ€™ve just ripped into me? If youโ€™re not disgusted, I sure am.โ€

Calliope chuckled softly. โ€œYou say Lisette is younger and I should give way to her, but youโ€™re older than me by quite a bit. Do you ever cut me some slack?โ€

โ€œHow is that the same thing?โ€ Zelda was incredulous.

โ€œIsnโ€™t it?โ€ Calliope shrugged. โ€œDo you even know what Lisette was up to at the Baker Group?โ€

โ€œWhat else would she be doing? She was obviously there for business!โ€ Zelda snapped back.

โ€œBusiness? Dressed in that seductive attire? Or was it more like a sister trying to seduce her brother-in-law? Or are you backing her up in this too?โ€

โ€œCalliope, quit spewing nonsense!โ€ Zelda growled, โ€œYou think Lisette is as awful as you? Sheโ€™s not shameless like you!โ€
