Chapter 92
She had shed her playful demeanor, gaining a gentle beauty instead, like a rose on the wall, suddenly blooming at its most beautiful moment.
Gideon was disgruntled. She loved him so deeply, yet everything had changed overnight.
โYou think your position will be secure just with a baby?โ Gideon stepped forward, his expression cold as he looked at Calliope.
Calliope glanced at Gideon, utterly bemused. โWhat?โ
โThereโs someone else in Silasโs heart, and that woman isnโt you. Donโt get your hopes up.โ
Calliope remained silent.
โEven if you have his child, when that woman returns, heโll ditch you, and you wonโt even have time to cry. Do you have money to raise a kid?โ Gideon sneered, โThereโs no need to do something so reckless to irritate me.โ
Calliope looked at Gideon, amused. โI donโt care if Silas has someone else in his heart. I love him, and thatโs enough for me. Also, I donโt need you to worry about raising the kid. Why are you even bothered? You donโt even have a wife yet. Maybe focus on your marriage first.โ
Gideon stared at Calliope in disbelief. โYou know he doesnโt love you, and yetโโ
Calliope smiled slightly at Gideon. โWhy is it okay for you to not love me, but not fine for Silas not to love me while I love him? Heโs older, more handsome, and wealthier than you.โ
Gideon was infuriated. He tried to steady his emotions. โYouโll regret this.โ
โSo eager to see me regret it, huh? Why donโt you marry that Yvette and see if I regret it?โ Calliope smirked, pushed past Gideon, and walked away.
When Gideon returned inside after a smoke, he saw Silas playing chess with Eamon. Calliope sat in Silasโs lap, dozing off like a child. Silas held her gently while his other hand moved the chess pieces. The two were inseparable, their bond shockingly strong.
After the game ended, Eamon seemed to want to continue.
But Silas said, โWeโll play again another time. Callieโs sleepy. We should head back.โ
Gideon stood at the doorway, unable to describe the feeling in his chest, only knowing it felt oppressively heavy. He could barely breathe, and with one last glance, he turned away in frustration.
Yvette had just finished a call with Lisette when she heard the doorbell. She turned to open it and found a stormy Gideon. Undoubtedly, he was in a foul mood.
As soon as he entered, he collapsed against her, wrapping her in a tight embrace.
Surprised, she softly asked, โWhatโs wrong, Gideon? Who upset you?โ
But just as quickly, Gideon abruptly pushed Yvette away. He slumped onto the couch, yanking at his tie, his mind swirling with images of Calliope perched delicately on Silasโs lap.
He was going crazy. He wanted to hold Calliope, to have her in his arms.
He must be losing his mind. Why else would he feel this way? He should despise her.
Yes, it was just his frustration over not getting those shares, those shares that ended up with Calliope instead. โGideon, what happened?โ Yvette asked suspiciously, handing him a glass of water.
