Chapter 1005
Elder Mitchell wasnโt buying it. โThat just means you guys didnโt really want to give anything. If you truly wanted to, thereโs no such thing as a gift that canโt be delivered.โ
The two old men started bickering again, but Hayden ignored them. Instead, he kept his eyes on the infant bathing room. Before long, the nurse finished bathing the baby and carried her out.
Hayden reached out to take her, but the two elders immediately moved closer. He blocked them without hesitation. โDonโt you know old peopleโs eyes are toxic? You shouldnโt be staring at her for too long.โ
Elder Hart: 11 Elder Mitchell: โฆ
With that, Hayden carried the baby and walked away. The two old men trailed after him, hoping to catch another glimpse, but Hayden wasnโt about to give them the chance.
โCongratulations,โ Aaron, who had been standing nearby, offered his well wishes.
โItโs a daughter. Take a look,โ Hayden said, his pride practically radiating off him.
Aaron lowered his gaze to the tiny baby in Haydenโs arms. She was soft and delicate, her skin fair and smooth. Though she was still so small, it was already clear she had double eyelids. She was fast asleep, her tiny eyelids fluttering occasionally. Just watching her made his heart melt.
โAaron, you should hurry up too. Having a daughter is amazing,โ Hayden said as he walked off, cradling the baby.
Back in the delivery room, Lena had already finished tidying Keira up. She glanced at Hayden. โWhy are you bringing the baby here? The nurses can take care of her. Right now, you should be looking after your wife.โ
โItโs fine. Besides, your nurses arenโt that reliable,โ Hayden said without hesitation.
After enduring the pain of childbirth, Keira was utterly exhausted. Her entire body felt weak and powerless. Hayden gently placed the baby beside her pillow.
โLook, honey, our daughter is just as beautiful as you.โ
The two old men werenโt wrongโour baby had inherited features from both of them.
โThank you, wife,โ Hayden whispered before kissing Keiraโs cheek.
By now, Keiraโs emotions had settled. She couldnโt take her eyes off the baby no matter how hard she tried. No matter how much she looked, it never seemed enoughโshe wished she could etch her image into her heart.
โHayden, we have a baby now. From now on, weโre officially parents,โ Keira murmured, kissing the soft little blanket the baby was wrapped in.
โMhmm. From now on, I have two treasuresโone big, one small,โ Hayden said, his face overflowing with happiness.
โHayden, take a picture. I want to post it on my Story,โ Keira suggested.
He took out his phone and snapped a picture of the three of themโa perfect family portrait.
Outside the Delivery Room: After finishing her tasks, Lena finally noticed Aaron was still there.
โUncle, why are you still here?โ she asked, surprised.
โAre you done?โ he replied.
Lena nodded. Just then, he handed her a small box.
She looked at him suspiciously. โWhatโs this?โ
โSupper.โ Aaron opened the box, revealing a bowl of steamed birdโs nest soup.
Lena chuckled. โAre you sure this is for me?โ
โMm. Keiraโs portion is already in her hospital room,โ Aaron replied. At Haydenโs request, he had arranged for food, but he hadnโt forgotten Lenaโs share either.
He even unwrapped the spoon and handed it to her. Lena had expended a lot of energy assisting with the delivery, and she was indeed feeling hungry. She took a spoonful and tasted itโsweet and silky.
โUncle, do you like kids?โ she asked as she ate.
โTheyโre alright,โ he said, glancing at the baby posters on the wall.
โThat means not really,โ Lena deduced. โBabies are actually adorable. Once you have your own, youโll understand. Just look at Haydenโheโs only been a dad for a few hours, and heโs already completely devoted to his daughter.โ
Aaron didnโt reply immediately. Lena looked up and met his gaze.
Only then did he say, โThatโs something you can only truly understand once it happens.โ
