Chapter 116
Tanya stood speechless, her humiliation evident. She deserved it, honestly.
โMs. Twain, if thereโs nothing else, you should leave early. Youโre carrying a one-of-a-kind, after all. Something happening wouldnโt be good,โ I added, offering a genuine warning, not mockery.
The thought struck meโsheโd decided to keep the baby, so she must have her reasons. But she should be more careful; places like amusement parks were risky. Unless, deep down, she didn't actually want this baby. The thought hit me hard as I looked at her face.
She was too consumed by shame to react. Having said my piece and vented my anger, I turned to leave.
โDo you really not love Jace anymore? Do you really not want to be with him?โ Tanya called out.
I smirked, without turning. โYeah, Iโm giving him to you.โ
I was, but I doubted she could keep him. Jace had been acting like an idiot these past few days, clearly still harboring feelings for meโfeelings he hadn't realized until our breakup. Now, he was pulling stunts to get my attention. His relationship with Tanya seemed impulsive, not genuine love.
Even so, I couldn't forgive it. When I wanted something, it was mine. No exceptions. And no way was my guy touching anyone else, or letting anyone else touch him. If he did, I was done.
โThen just stay away from him. Donโt even see him,โ Tanya said, leaving me speechless.
Her words made it clearโshe had feelings for Jace. Maybe not grand love, but she wanted a guy who provided for her, a place to stay, and access to his credit card.
Reaching the elevator, I turned back, smirking. โWhy donโt you toss me a few million, and Iโll vanish into the mountains? Then you can have whatever you want.โ
Tanya paled, clutching her dress. Sheโd admitted to being broke, relying on Jaceโs card. My words stung, and I knew it.
The elevator doors opened, and I stepped inside, unconcerned with her expression.
Back in Demiโs room, unsure what to do, I started watching the show sheโd been raving about. It was good; Iโd already watched five episodes when I heard a noise outside the door. It was Hayden.
โMs. Young, tell Ms. Kay to come to my room in ten minutes.โ
โOkay,โ Demi replied, cracking the door open. I only saw her shoes fly off at first.
โIโm beat. Is this even work for humans?โ Demi grumbled, shuffling in.
I put down my phone and patted the couch beside me. โCome here, let me give you a massage.โ
Demi came over, but instead of lying down, she hugged me tightly. โKeira, come back already. We canโt handle this without you.โ
I patted her head gently. โIf you want to take on the big stuff, youโve got to tough it out. Now, go take a bath and get some sleep.โ
โIโm not bathing. I just want to crash,โ Demi mumbled, trying to get up. Noticing the paused show on my phone, she pouted. โYouโre so heartless.โ
I gave her a soft smile. โCome on, be good. Once youโre done with work and on vacation, you can binge it all day.โ
Demi huffed, but before disappearing into her bedroom, she said, โBy the way, Mr. Hart wants to see you in his room.โ
โMhm,โ I nodded; Iโd already heard him.
โI just realized he isnโt cute at all. Iโve gone from fangirl to hater,โ Demi grumbled, and I almost laughed. Hayden must have really tested her today.
