Chapter 287

โ€œSeriously, it was huge!โ€ one exclaimed, wide-eyed. โ€œEither his girlfriend has incredible stamina, orโ€”โ€

โ€œโ€”or heโ€™s just that good in bed, driving her crazy,โ€ the other finished with a knowing smirk.

I blinked, momentarily speechless. These two knew far too much.

โ€œYou two donโ€™t miss a thing,โ€ I chuckled, though it felt forced.

โ€œHe wanted us to see it. His shirt was practically open,โ€ one said, nudging her friend. โ€œRight?โ€

โ€œTotally. It wasnโ€™t just us. Every woman in the company saw itโ€”even the cleaning lady!โ€

I was speechless.

โ€œMr. Hartโ€™s usually so reserved. He barely leaves his office. But today, he was like he was in a parade.โ€

โ€œSeriously. Do you think heโ€™s trying to make a point?โ€

โ€œMaybeโ€ฆโ€ The other girl offered a knowing look. โ€œOr maybe heโ€™s just squashing any fantasies we might have had about him.โ€

โ€œYeah, like, โ€˜Sorry, ladies, but Iโ€™m very taken.โ€™โ€

I was impressed by their insight. Despite his boldness, Hayden was clearly making a statement, gentlyโ€”but firmlyโ€”discouraging his admirers.

It was sweet, and a little bittersweet. You could tell when a man truly loved someone; heโ€™d ensure she never worried.

โ€œMr. Hartโ€™s a total catch. The more he does this, the more obsessed I become.โ€

โ€œSeriously, heโ€™s so swoon-worthy.โ€

Lost in their own world, they gushed over Hayden. I smiled softly, warmth spreading through me.

I followed Coleโ€™s location pin and drove there. Banners celebrated the grand opening. However, being there didn't guarantee meeting Thorsten.

But after coming this far, I wasn't about to back down.

I knew little about NewWealth Capital, but for the boss to persuade Thorstenโ€”who usually avoided everythingโ€”to leave his retreat and attend in person, they had to be very influential. And if they were that close to Thorsten, they likely had connections with Matthew as well.

Chapter 207

I hated using the Johnston name, but sometimes you have to use what you have. Not taking a shortcut when available is foolish.

I went straight to the front desk and mentioned Matthewโ€™s name. The receptionist checked a list and admitted me.

Getting inside wasn't the victory; I was here for Thorsten.

โ€œI need to see Thorsten Drago,โ€ I said. โ€œWhich room is he in?โ€

The receptionist paused, awaiting an explanation, but I remained calm and composed. A few seconds later, she smiled politely and gave me the room number.

I didnโ€™t bother thanking her; I simply nodded and left. Politeness is fine, but no need for excess. It's about reading the situation, not placing anyone on a pedestal.

I entered the venue, scanning the crowded room, but knew Thorsten wouldnโ€™t be mingling. Someone like him wouldn't be out in the open, which is why I asked for his room number.

I stopped a waiter and asked him to direct me to Thorstenโ€™s room.

Taking a deep breath, I knocked. The door opened quickly, revealing a tall, imposing man who eyed me suspiciously. โ€œWho are you looking for?โ€

I remained calm. โ€œIโ€™m here to see Mr. Drago.โ€ Then I added, โ€œIโ€™m a relative of Matthew Johnston.โ€

A deep voice rumbled from inside. โ€œLet her in.โ€

My heart leaped. It was Thorsten. He'd actually agreed to see me.
