Chapter 595
I glanced at the two guys on the floor. โIs it safer here?โ
Yara paused, then nodded. โI guess so. But letโs wait for Hayden to make the call. Not my decision.โ
I wanted to ask, โArenโt you his fiancรฉe?โ but kept it to myself. No need to sound petty.
โLetโs head inside. Standing out here is exhausting,โ Yara suggested, looking totally chill.
I shot another look at the guys, but Yara shrugged. โTheyโre not going anywhere.โ
She was the one who caught and tied them up, so I figured I could trust her confidence.
We walked into the villa, Yara scanning the place with a lazy smile. โNice place. Definitely has a feminine touch.โ
Iโd noticed that too.
โIโm not sure,โ I said, trying to sound casual.
Iโd seen Wayneโs place earlierโthere was no sign of a woman. The only room that screamed โfemaleโ was the art studio. And yeah, the woman in those paintings? Me.
Yara flopped onto the couch like she owned the place. I sat down next to her. โThose guys outside were probably sent by Bruno,โ I said.
โYeah, figured. Hayden will take care of them, and help you get Jace back,โ Yara said, making my brow furrow.
Help me get Jace back? She made it sound like we were still a thing.
But I wasnโt about to explain myself to her. Getting tangled up with Bruno was partly my mess, so I kept quiet. Besides, if I tried explaining my relationship with Jace, would she think I was still into Hayden?
Speaking of Haydenโฆ I couldnโt help but glance at Yaraโs fingers. She wasnโt wearing a ring.
They had been talking about picking out rings, so maybe they were looking for wedding bands.
Yara caught me looking and lifted her hand with a smirk. โAdmiring my hands?โ
โYep, youโre stunning, so of course everything about you is,โ I said, keeping it real.
There really wasnโt a single flaw in her appearance.
โHaha, are you being honest?โ she teased.
I smiled tightly, nodding as she fluffed a pillow.
โYou know, girls donโt need to hold back or force themselves to be polite. If you donโt like someone, you donโt have to compliment them.โ
I got what she meantโshe probably thought I didnโt like her.
But I didnโt care. Even if she was with Hayden, I wasnโt mad at her. My frustration was with him, not her.
โYouโre assuming too much about me,โ I said.
โMaybe. But if I were in your shoes, Iโd be bothered,โ she said, blunt as ever.
โEveryoneโs different,โ I shrugged.
Yara studied me like she was trying to figure me out. โSo, youโre really not bothered? Because once I go back, Iโm going through with the engagementโand the wedding. If youโve got an issue with that, nowโs the time to speak up.โ
She made it sound like I was some rivalโฆ
โIโm not bothered. He picked you, so youโre the one he wants. And trust me, Iโve made it clearโIโm done with him,โ I said, meeting her eyes without flinching.
โIn that case, should I set you up with someone?โ
I wasnโt expecting that.
She was probably testing me, so I rolled with it. โUh, sure.โ
She grinned. โHow about Cole? You know him, andโฆ heโs into you. If youโre down, maybe we can do a double wedding with me and Hayden.โ
