Chapter 595

I glanced at the two guys on the floor. โ€œIs it safer here?โ€

Yara paused, then nodded. โ€œI guess so. But letโ€™s wait for Hayden to make the call. Not my decision.โ€

I wanted to ask, โ€˜Arenโ€™t you his fiancรฉe?โ€™ but kept it to myself. No need to sound petty.

โ€œLetโ€™s head inside. Standing out here is exhausting,โ€ Yara suggested, looking totally chill.

I shot another look at the guys, but Yara shrugged. โ€œTheyโ€™re not going anywhere.โ€

She was the one who caught and tied them up, so I figured I could trust her confidence.

We walked into the villa, Yara scanning the place with a lazy smile. โ€œNice place. Definitely has a feminine touch.โ€

Iโ€™d noticed that too.

โ€œIโ€™m not sure,โ€ I said, trying to sound casual.

Iโ€™d seen Wayneโ€™s place earlierโ€”there was no sign of a woman. The only room that screamed โ€œfemaleโ€ was the art studio. And yeah, the woman in those paintings? Me.

Yara flopped onto the couch like she owned the place. I sat down next to her. โ€œThose guys outside were probably sent by Bruno,โ€ I said.

โ€œYeah, figured. Hayden will take care of them, and help you get Jace back,โ€ Yara said, making my brow furrow.

Help me get Jace back? She made it sound like we were still a thing.

But I wasnโ€™t about to explain myself to her. Getting tangled up with Bruno was partly my mess, so I kept quiet. Besides, if I tried explaining my relationship with Jace, would she think I was still into Hayden?

Speaking of Haydenโ€ฆ I couldnโ€™t help but glance at Yaraโ€™s fingers. She wasnโ€™t wearing a ring.

They had been talking about picking out rings, so maybe they were looking for wedding bands.

Yara caught me looking and lifted her hand with a smirk. โ€œAdmiring my hands?โ€

โ€œYep, youโ€™re stunning, so of course everything about you is,โ€ I said, keeping it real.

There really wasnโ€™t a single flaw in her appearance.

โ€œHaha, are you being honest?โ€ she teased.

I smiled tightly, nodding as she fluffed a pillow.

โ€œYou know, girls donโ€™t need to hold back or force themselves to be polite. If you donโ€™t like someone, you donโ€™t have to compliment them.โ€

I got what she meantโ€”she probably thought I didnโ€™t like her.

But I didnโ€™t care. Even if she was with Hayden, I wasnโ€™t mad at her. My frustration was with him, not her.

โ€œYouโ€™re assuming too much about me,โ€ I said.

โ€œMaybe. But if I were in your shoes, Iโ€™d be bothered,โ€ she said, blunt as ever.

โ€œEveryoneโ€™s different,โ€ I shrugged.

Yara studied me like she was trying to figure me out. โ€œSo, youโ€™re really not bothered? Because once I go back, Iโ€™m going through with the engagementโ€”and the wedding. If youโ€™ve got an issue with that, nowโ€™s the time to speak up.โ€

She made it sound like I was some rivalโ€ฆ

โ€œIโ€™m not bothered. He picked you, so youโ€™re the one he wants. And trust me, Iโ€™ve made it clearโ€”Iโ€™m done with him,โ€ I said, meeting her eyes without flinching.

โ€œIn that case, should I set you up with someone?โ€

I wasnโ€™t expecting that.

She was probably testing me, so I rolled with it. โ€œUh, sure.โ€

She grinned. โ€œHow about Cole? You know him, andโ€ฆ heโ€™s into you. If youโ€™re down, maybe we can do a double wedding with me and Hayden.โ€
