Chapter 91
Yeah, Jace was definitely jealous. What a jerk. He was fooling around with Tanya while simultaneously clinging to me. He seriously thought he could have it all.
I stayed in the restroom for a few minutes, composing myself. Stepping out, I overheard Tanya's voice. She sounded pitiful, almost on the verge of tears. โJace, you still love Keira, donโt you?โ
โSheโs my fiancรฉe,โ Jace replied, confirming my suspicions.
โBut sheโs already broken up with you,โ Tanya whispered.
I had to admit, she was adept at playing the helpless damsel. Even her voice was perfectly pitched for sympathy.
โThatโs just anger. She didnโt actually break up with me. Besides, she canโt live without me. Sheโll come back once she cools down,โ Jaceโs words stunned me.
He thought the breakup was just a tantrum? That I couldn't live without him? But why say this in front of Tanya? Was there nothing going on between them?
โYou guys are all the sameโyou donโt appreciate what you have until itโs gone, then you refuse to let go,โ Tanyaโs retort held a sharp edge.
Jace remained silent, but Tanya continued. โIf Keiraโs the one you really want, why treat me so well? Why make her misunderstand?โ
My heart skipped a beat. That was the question I had been dying to ask. Before today, I would have believed something was between them. But if that were true, would Jace be so open about his feelings for me with Tanya present? His silence deepened my confusion. I cautiously approached, straining to hear. They stood in the hallway, across from a large mirror. Their reflection showed Jace staring at his feet, his expression dark and brooding.
โJace, if you love Keira, then why did you get close to me? Why did you kiss me?โ Tanyaโs voice cracked, and I froze.
They had been that close? A sharp pain pierced my heart.
โJace, answer me!โ Tanya's voice grew desperate as she grabbed his shirt. โIf you hadnโt kissed me, Desmond wouldnโt have seen, andโฆโ Her voice trailed off, then she went limp. Jace caught her as she collapsed.
Chapter 91
โTanya, Tanya,โ Jace panicked, lifting her and rushing out.
I remained frozen, watching through the mirror as he carried Tanya away. Tanya had admitted Jace kissed her, and Desmond witnessed it. This meant their involvement wasn't new; it had been ongoing.
