Chapter 205

โ€œStemma!โ€ Josiah called softly. He saw Siennaโ€™s near tears, and a surge of emotion overwhelmed him. So, she did care. Deep down, he knew this was his fault; heโ€™d hurt her. No girl would remain indifferent if her boyfriend defended another woman, and Sienna was no exception. Her anger and the breakup only confirmed how much she meant to him. Now, it was all clear. Back then, however, his head had felt clouded, his judgment impaired.

Josiah stood, crossed the room in a single stride, and knelt before her. He clasped her hands, gently enfolding them in his warm palms. โ€œAlright,โ€ he said sincerely, โ€œIโ€™ll agree to whatever you want.โ€ Then, with self-reproach, he confessed, โ€œIt was my fault. I handled everything so poorly. You had every right to be angry. These past few days, youโ€™ve ignored me. Have you cooled off? If not, tell me what I can do to make it up to you. Whatever it takes.โ€

Sienna let out a cold laugh. To anyone else, he might have sounded like a lovesick man desperate for reconciliation, but she had no time for games. Looking directly at him, she said firmly, โ€œJosiah, youโ€™re the one insisting on getting back together. Let me make this clear: I have a bad temper. Youโ€™ve always known that. This is who I am. If I turn your life upside down in the future, donโ€™t blame me.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s this?โ€ Josiah teased, his smile carefree and boyish. โ€œAre you worried about me again?โ€ His grip tightened slightly, his touch steady and reassuring. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. As long as you donโ€™t break up with me, I can handle anything you throw at me.โ€

Sienna bit her lip. โ€œIโ€™m not joking, Josiah. Do you enjoy being treated badly? Wouldnโ€™t it be easier to date someone sweet and obedient?โ€

โ€œThat sounds boring, donโ€™t you think?โ€ Josiah raised an eyebrow, his eyes sparkling with humor. โ€œIโ€™m looking for a girlfriend, not an employee. Why would I want her to follow orders all the time?โ€

For once, Sienna was speechless. Fine, Mr. Flynn, she thought, exasperation creeping in. You better remember what you just said. Donโ€™t come crying to me later. She poured her heart and soul into this performance, hoping he wouldnโ€™t let her down.

At the police station, Rosie woke early. The past few days had been chaotic. Being in and out of detention was an ordeal. She hadnโ€™t eaten or slept properly, and looked pale and gaunt.

โ€œHey, Rosie!โ€ A voice startled her. Rosie looked up, her bloodshot eyes meeting the officerโ€™s. โ€œYes, officer.โ€ She quickly stood. The iron-barred floor creaked open. โ€œYou can come out now!โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Rosie replied with tired energy. โ€œIs this for more questioning?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ the officer said, shaking her head.

At the door, another female officer waited. โ€œGo with her. Sheโ€™ll help you with the paperwork. Once itโ€™s done, youโ€™ll be free to go,โ€ the officer explained.

โ€œWhat? I can leave?โ€ Rosie thought, disbelief washing over her.

The female officer smiled kindly. โ€œPlease follow me.โ€

โ€œAlright. Thank you, officer,โ€ Rosie said, still processing the news. She completed the paperwork, signed the necessary forms, and retrieved her belongings. โ€œAll done. Youโ€™re free to go,โ€ the officer informed her.

โ€œThank you, officer,โ€ Rosie bowed slightly before stepping out. The sun was shining brightly, and she closed her eyes, breathing deeply. Pulling out her phone, she dialed Siennaโ€™s number.

Sienna, sitting in Josiahโ€™s Bentley Arnage, saw Rosieโ€™s name flash on her screen. She glanced at Josiah, surprised by his swift action. They had just reached an agreement, and Rosie was already free.

โ€œHello, Rosie?โ€ Sienna said.

โ€œHi, Sienna,โ€ Rosie said, overcome with emotion. โ€œIโ€™m out. Thank you so much.โ€ It had to be Sienna who saved her. Since the incident, she hadnโ€™t been able to contact Daniel, who was completely unreliable.

โ€œDonโ€™t mention it,โ€ Sienna said, relaxing. โ€œThis is all my fault. You suffered because of me. Go home and rest. Get a good nightโ€™s sleep.โ€ She glanced at Josiah. โ€œIโ€™ve got something to take care of. Letโ€™s talk when youโ€™re feeling better, okay?โ€

โ€œSure. Bye,โ€ Rosie said, ending the call. She walked toward the bus stop with a newfound lightness.

Under a tree, Howard sat in his car, watching her leave. He didnโ€™t look away until she disappeared.

โ€œHoward,โ€ Hervey said softly, โ€œShall we go?โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Howard said, reluctantly turning his gaze away.

โ€œHoward,โ€ Hervey hesitated. โ€œRosie went through a lot this time, and her husband didnโ€™t show up once. Do you think we shouldโ€ฆโ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Howard cut him off. His face remained impassive. โ€œSheโ€™s fine now. As for her life, thatโ€™s her own business. It has nothing to do with me. Do you understand?โ€

Hervey stiffened. โ€œYes, Howard, I understand.โ€

Rowl, a FOUR HOURS staff member, walked ahead with a cheerful smile. Behind them was Sienna, who had just changed clothes.

โ€œMr. Flynn, take a lookโ€ฆโ€ After their agreement, Josiah insisted on taking Sienna shopping. The outfit she was wearing was his choice.

Unlike Yvetteโ€™s ladylike style, this one was casual, with sophisticated details.

โ€œYou look beautiful,โ€ Josiah said, taking her hand. โ€œYou wear it well. Do you like it?โ€

Sienna hesitated, then nodded reluctantly. Sheโ€™d planned to deny it, but she couldnโ€™t fault the outfit.

โ€œReally? Thatโ€™s great!โ€ With a triumphant grin, Josiah wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her close. His expression was a mix of pride and a desire to please. โ€œSee! I know your taste. You wronged me,โ€ he said.

To be fair, Josiah was partly to blame for the earlier misunderstanding. Heโ€™d instructed FOUR HOURS to deliver womenโ€™s clothing to Silver Beach, but hadnโ€™t specified the style. The staff, assuming it was for the Flynn family, had sent outfits in their usual style. The store bore some responsibility, too.

Sienna, worried he might press against her stomach, tried to push him away. โ€œPeople are watching.โ€

Josiah chuckled, holding her tighter. โ€œWhoโ€™s watching?โ€ The staff had tactfully left.

โ€œSienna,โ€ Josiah turned her slightly, pointing to their reflection. โ€œLook at us. Donโ€™t we make a great couple? With your looks, not just anyone can match you.โ€

Are you complimenting me or yourself? Youโ€™re so full of yourself, Sienna thought.

Josiahโ€™s tone grew serious, and he seemed shy. โ€œI think I shouldโ€ฆ I mean, Iโ€ฆ โ€

What is it? Sienna thought, dumbfounded. Why is he stammering?

Tightening his arm around her waist, Josiah mustered his courage. โ€œI thinkโ€ฆ I like you.โ€
