Chapter 251

Bobby, though young, spoke clearly. “If you’re my mom, why didn’t you come with Dad to pick me up?”

Yvette’s discomfort was evident. Upset, but maintaining composure, she offered a strained smile. “I wasn’t before, Bobby, but from now on, I will be.”

“Why?” Bobby didn’t understand. “You don’t like me. I don’t want you to be my mom.” He stood, ready to leave.

Yvette, losing patience, grabbed him. Glaring, she said sternly, “Bobby, listen! I’m going to marry your dad, so from now on, I’ll be your mother.”

Frightened by her expression, Bobby forcefully shook her off. “No! No!” he exclaimed, and ran outside.

He ran straight into Miranda’s arms. She hugged him. “What’s wrong?” Bobby’s distress was clear.

“Bobby!” Yvette pursued him, her anger evident. Seeing Miranda, she paused. “Miranda…”

As soon as he saw her, Bobby snuggled deeper into Miranda’s embrace, turning his back to Yvette, too shy to look at her. It was obvious to everyone in the Flynn family that Yvette didn't accept Bobby.

“Don’t be scared, Bobby,” Miranda soothed him gently. “You’re the Flynn family’s firstborn son, born into wealth, yet you were alone until you were three.”

Reflecting on Bobby’s hardships, Miranda struggled to comfort him. “With me here, no one will dare to bully you.”

Yvette’s face flushed crimson with anger. “Miranda! What are you saying? Are you implying I bullied him?”

Miranda shook her head with a helpless smile. “Yvette, that’s not what I mean. Bobby is only three. He’s grown up without adult guidance; why argue with him?”

Yvette was stunned, her face paling, then flushing. She knew Miranda’s deep affection for Bobby. Yvette was favored by the Flynn family for saving Howard and Josiah, but with Bobby in the family, Miranda’s attention was solely on him. Yvette, an outsider, could never truly compare to a Flynn family member.

“What’s going on?” Howard arrived, hearing the commotion.

“Daddy!” Bobby quickly left Miranda’s side, standing tall and serious. “Daddy, I was wrong!” His small voice trembled slightly as he glanced at Howard.

Howard saw the young child’s shrewd assessment of adult emotions. Though young, Bobby understood Howard held ultimate authority over his place in the home.

Howard bent down and picked up Bobby. Bobby’s eyes were red. “Daddy, I know I’m wrong; please don’t send me away.” Tears welled up.

“Don’t cry, Bobby,” Howard wiped his tears. “This is your home. No matter what, you won’t be sent away.”

“Daddy!” Bobby exclaimed.

Miranda offered heartfelt concern. “Be good, Bobby, and come have some ice cream with me.”

“Okay,” Bobby replied.

Yvette thought, What a perfect family! Feeling like an outsider, unnecessary, she turned and went upstairs.

“Sienna,” Josiah emerged, changing his clothes. Sienna carried yogurt and oats upstairs. Yvette closed her bedroom door.

Josiah frowned. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

“They argued,” Sienna said, taking a spoonful of yogurt. “It seems Bobby doesn’t like her.”

Josiah frowned thoughtfully. “Well, maybe she’s just not good with kids.”

Chapter 251 (continued)

“Do you want some?” Sienna asked.

“Sure,” Josiah replied.

Sienna fed him a spoonful. “Is it good?”

“Delicious, give me another scoop,” Josiah said.

“Don’t eat too much; you’ll finish all of mine,” Sienna said.

“You’re such a miser! I’ll get you more once it’s gone,” Josiah replied.

As they spoke, Yvette emerged from the room, dressed to go out, carrying a suitcase. Seeing them sharing yogurt, a pang of emotion struck her.

Yvette had believed Howard’s heart belonged to Sienna. She was wrong. He had someone else, and a child. Ultimately, she’d lost to Sienna.

“Yvette,” Howard came downstairs, his eyes on her suitcase. “Where are you going?” He approached and took her wrist.

Yvette’s eyes were slightly red. “Let me go. In this family, I’m just an outsider.”

Howard looked surprised, frowning. “Yvette, no one said that. Bobby is still young, and he just came back.”

Yvette scoffed, determined to leave. “So, I’m just making space for him.”

“Yvette,” Howard said.

Tears shimmered in Yvette’s eyes. “Howard, I’m feeling down, so I took this job to clear my head. Could you consider it, please?” Their eyes met, tension filling the air.

Howard released her. “Alright, wherever you go, let me know where you’ll be staying.”

Yvette scoffed. “Can’t you figure it out? Isn’t my entire management team made up of your people?” She grabbed her suitcase and left without looking back.

“Yvette!” Josiah called out, looking at Yvette and then at Howard. “Howard, are you just going to let her leave like that?”

“What else?” Howard retorted. “You tell me, what should I do? Yvette doesn’t get along with Bobby. Are we supposed to send Bobby away?” Josiah thought, Of course not! He fell silent. It was difficult for Howard; both Bobby and Yvette were important to him.

On Monday, Josiah’s injury was healing, and Sienna returned to work at the dance troupe. Zaid drove her to the troupe, then to the Flynn Group.

The car stopped. Sienna planned to visit Sunshine Neighborhood at noon. Suddenly, her gaze froze; her eyes widened. She reached for the car door, but it was locked.

“Zaid, unlock the door!” Sienna yelled.

“What?” Zaid asked.

Sienna yelled, “Open the door!”

“Oh, okay,” Zaid replied.

“Sienna?” Josiah, stunned, grabbed her. “Where are you going?”

“Let go!” There was no time to explain. Sienna shook off Josiah’s hand, opened the car door, and sprinted across the road.
