Chapter 267
Sienna called Josiah, but he didn't answer. She assumed he was busy or hadn't heard his phone. She was about to try again when Shannon approached. "Ms. Shaw! The director needs you. There's a quick meeting."
"Alright, I'll be there immediately," Sienna sighed, putting away her phone.
After the meeting, she returned to the rehearsal room. Chelsea rushed to her. "Ms. Shaw, you're back just in time. I need to ask you something."
Sienna, anticipating a dance-related question, replied, "What is it?"
Chelsea frowned. "Where's Yvette? She's the lead dancer, but she's a no-show."
Sienna was surprised. The other dancers wore uncomfortable expressions, a blend of dissatisfaction and subtle mockery.
"No idea," Sienna admitted.
They offered awkward laughter, avoiding a direct answer. Chelsea pressed, "Ms. Shaw, is something going on with her?"
Sienna shook her head. "I'm not sure. My job is to assist the artists. I have no knowledge of their schedules."
Someone sighed. "It's not just today. She's missed several rehearsals."
"Last time, we all waited for her, but she never came."
"Will she make this rehearsal?"
"It's hard to say."
"Well, when you're that popular, you're always busy," someone offered.
Chelsea raised an eyebrow, clearly irritated. "If she's that busy, she shouldn't be the lead dancer, Ms. Shaw, don't you think?"
Sienna hesitated. "That's not something I can control. It's not a consultant's duty."
Chelsea decided, "I'll talk to Ms. Lawrence!" She stormed off, finding Shannon immediately. "Ms. Lawrence, Yvette doesn't deserve to be the lead dancer. She's ruining the performance. Get someone else. I'll take the spot!"
Shannon, like Sienna, couldn't make that call.
"What? Can't you decide?" Chelsea sneered. "Then I'll talk to the director!" She started to leave.
"Chelsea!" Shannon grabbed her.
"Why are you stopping me? I can't stand people who do nothing!" Chelsea snapped. The door swung open, and Yvette, with her assistant, walked in, bumping into Chelsea.
"You guys are scared of her, but I'm not!" Chelsea declared.
Yvette, recognizing Chelsea, asked, "Chelsea! Long time no see. What's up? Who ticked you off?"
"Don't even try to be friendly! You're wasting our time! You're shameless!" Chelsea snapped, rolling her eyes.
Yvette, caught off guard, was openly scolded.
"What? Am I wrong?" Chelsea looked Yvette up and down with disgust. "Stop that wronged look!"
Yvette, turning away, retorted, "You're so rude!"
"Rude!" Chelsea said, a mixture of anger and amusement. "I'm a proper lady of high society. I'm far nobler than you, a nobody!"
Yvette trembled, her face paling with anger.
Sienna observed, noting their strained past. It seemed a fight was brewing.
Chelsea stared at Yvette, enunciating each word, "Give up the lead dancer spot!"
Yvette sneered, "Give it up? To whom? You? Do you deserve it?"
Chelsea slapped Yvette's face. "So what if I hit you? Do you deserve to say my name? Do you think you're a star now?" Chelsea spat on Yvette. Yvette screamed, humiliated.
Janet, Yvette's assistant, was terrified. Yvette, backed by the Flynn brothers, had always enjoyed a privileged career. She'd never faced such bullying.
Janet cleaned Yvette's face, glaring at Chelsea. "Who do you think you are?"
Chelsea laughed. "Mr. Flynn? Which one? Yvette, you know how to hook up with men. Using your charms to climb the ranks, you're embarrassing all women!"
Yvette, fists clenched, lunged at Chelsea, shoving her to the ground. They grappled on the floor.
"Stop it!" Shannon shouted, trying to separate them. "Help me pull them apart!"
Meanwhile, downstairs, Josiah arrived unexpectedly. He'd planned a surprise visit.
Upon entering the rehearsal room, he froze at the sight of the women fighting. He saw Yvette on the floor.
"Yvette?" Josiah pushed through the crowd, finding Chelsea pinning Yvette. He grabbed Chelsea's arm. "Let go, or I won't go easy on you!"
Chelsea, surprised, saw his cold expression. "Josiah Flynn?"
"I don't care who you are," Josiah snapped. He helped Yvette up, his anger flaring at her disheveled hair and scratches. "Did you do this?"
His menacing gaze made even Chelsea tremble. "You should be thankful you're a woman," he growled. Otherwise, she'd pay dearly.
Josiah supported Yvette out of the room. Sienna watched them leave.
