Moved up in line, counting down on her fingers, she murmured, โ€œFive leftโ€ฆ four to goโ€ฆโ€

Finally, it was Josiahโ€™s turn. He paid and grabbed the muffins, grinning when he saw only three blueberry muffins remained. Luckily, Seasonal Bakeryโ€™s muffins were quite large, and he assumed these should suffice for Sienna.

He scanned the crowd; Sienna spotted him instantly. She jumped up and rushed over. โ€œDid you get them?โ€

Josiah nodded and started toward her. Suddenly, a voice called out, halting him mid-stride.

โ€œMr. Flynn! Oh, itโ€™s really you.โ€ Janetโ€™s eyes sparkled with recognition, and she gestured outside. โ€œYvetteโ€™s in the car. Sheโ€™s here to grab some muffins.โ€

She complained, โ€œYvette wants blueberry muffins, but they were all sold out by the time I got there. You know how picky she isโ€”she wonโ€™t eat anything else.โ€

โ€œWe have a whole morning of shooting planned, and if she doesnโ€™t eat, itโ€™s going to cause a real headacheโ€”โ€

Suddenly, Janet paused, her eyes falling on the paper bag in Josiahโ€™s hand. โ€œMr. Flynn, are you here to buy muffins too?โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Josiahโ€™s charming face showed a hint of awkwardness, especially with Sienna just a few steps away.

โ€œWhat flavor did you get?โ€ Janet asked, either carelessly or without thinking.

Josh frowned but didnโ€™t respond. Janetโ€™s eyes flicked to the bag, and she saw the words. โ€œOh! Blueberry muffins!โ€

For the first time, Josiah felt annoyed by the attentive service at Seasonal Bakery.

โ€œJanet?โ€ Wene, probably tired of waiting in the car, approached, wearing sunglasses and a mask. โ€œIs it really taking that long to buy some muffins?โ€

Then she spotted Josiah and Sienna. โ€œJosiah, Sienna, did you come here for breakfast too?โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Josiah nodded.

Janet quickly interjected, โ€œYvette, the blueberry muffins are sold out. But Mr. Flynn got some.โ€ She shot a glance at Josiah, hinting that he might give them to Yvette.

Yvette raised an eyebrow, curious. โ€œYou actually got the blueberry ones! But you donโ€™t like those, do you? I thought chocolate was your favorite!โ€

They had grown up together, so she knew Josiah wasnโ€™t fond of fruit. โ€˜Blueberry means fruit, so why would he buy them for himself? Could it beโ€ฆ she thought and blurted out, โ€œYou bought them for someone else? For Sienna, right?โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Josiah admitted. โ€œShe stayed up all night with Grandma and hasnโ€™t eaten anything this morning.โ€

Yvette understood and chuckled. โ€œSienna, you should eat quickly before they get cold. I need to rush to the set.โ€

Without waiting for Josiah to respond, she grabbed Janet. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€

Janet complained, โ€œYvette! Why didnโ€™t you just let Mr. Flynn give the muffins to you? If you asked, heโ€™d definitely agree.โ€

โ€œYou talk too much. Letโ€™s move.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m just looking out for you. Youโ€™ll be hungry until lunch if you donโ€™t eat.โ€

Josiah overheard their conversation and thought that if Howard were well, he would never let Yvette go hungry. He glanced at Sienna, who was still waiting, and said, โ€œIโ€™ll get you more.โ€

With that, he hurried after Yvette, calling out, โ€œYvette!โ€

Yvette paused, confused. โ€œWhatโ€™s up?โ€

Josiah handed her the bag. โ€œHere you go. How can you get through the morning without eating? You need to take care of yourself.โ€

โ€œButโ€ฆโ€ Yvette hesitated, reluctant to accept. โ€œWhat about Sienna?โ€

Josiah chuckled, clearly unfazed. โ€œThere are other muffins. Iโ€™ll get some for her later. She wonโ€™t starve.โ€

โ€œWellโ€ฆโ€ Yvette still hesitated.

โ€œJust take it.โ€ Josiah gently held her hand and placed the bag in her palm.

Yvette smiled. โ€œAlright then. Iโ€™ll head out now. Iโ€™m in a bit of a rush. See you.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Josiah replied, watching Yvette leave. He then turned to Sienna. โ€œIโ€™ll grab some more for you. Iโ€™ll just wait in line again.โ€

โ€œNo need,โ€ Sienna reminded him. โ€œDidnโ€™t you remember? The blueberry muffins are all gone.โ€

Josiah frowned, annoyed. โ€œArenโ€™t there other flavors? Are you really that picky? You can only eat blueberry muffins and nothing else?โ€

Sienna was momentarily taken aback, then let out a bitter laugh. โ€œMr. Flynn really knows how to play favorites. Yvette can choose to only eat blueberry muffins, but when it comes to me, Iโ€™m the one being picky? Did he forget that the muffins he gave to appease Yvette were originally a thank-you gift he promised to me?โ€
