Moved up in line, counting down on her fingers, she murmured, โFive leftโฆ four to goโฆโ
Finally, it was Josiahโs turn. He paid and grabbed the muffins, grinning when he saw only three blueberry muffins remained. Luckily, Seasonal Bakeryโs muffins were quite large, and he assumed these should suffice for Sienna.
He scanned the crowd; Sienna spotted him instantly. She jumped up and rushed over. โDid you get them?โ
Josiah nodded and started toward her. Suddenly, a voice called out, halting him mid-stride.
โMr. Flynn! Oh, itโs really you.โ Janetโs eyes sparkled with recognition, and she gestured outside. โYvetteโs in the car. Sheโs here to grab some muffins.โ
She complained, โYvette wants blueberry muffins, but they were all sold out by the time I got there. You know how picky she isโshe wonโt eat anything else.โ
โWe have a whole morning of shooting planned, and if she doesnโt eat, itโs going to cause a real headacheโโ
Suddenly, Janet paused, her eyes falling on the paper bag in Josiahโs hand. โMr. Flynn, are you here to buy muffins too?โ
โYeah,โ Josiahโs charming face showed a hint of awkwardness, especially with Sienna just a few steps away.
โWhat flavor did you get?โ Janet asked, either carelessly or without thinking.
Josh frowned but didnโt respond. Janetโs eyes flicked to the bag, and she saw the words. โOh! Blueberry muffins!โ
For the first time, Josiah felt annoyed by the attentive service at Seasonal Bakery.
โJanet?โ Wene, probably tired of waiting in the car, approached, wearing sunglasses and a mask. โIs it really taking that long to buy some muffins?โ
Then she spotted Josiah and Sienna. โJosiah, Sienna, did you come here for breakfast too?โ
โYeah,โ Josiah nodded.
Janet quickly interjected, โYvette, the blueberry muffins are sold out. But Mr. Flynn got some.โ She shot a glance at Josiah, hinting that he might give them to Yvette.
Yvette raised an eyebrow, curious. โYou actually got the blueberry ones! But you donโt like those, do you? I thought chocolate was your favorite!โ
They had grown up together, so she knew Josiah wasnโt fond of fruit. โBlueberry means fruit, so why would he buy them for himself? Could it beโฆ she thought and blurted out, โYou bought them for someone else? For Sienna, right?โ
โYeah,โ Josiah admitted. โShe stayed up all night with Grandma and hasnโt eaten anything this morning.โ
Yvette understood and chuckled. โSienna, you should eat quickly before they get cold. I need to rush to the set.โ
Without waiting for Josiah to respond, she grabbed Janet. โLetโs go.โ
Janet complained, โYvette! Why didnโt you just let Mr. Flynn give the muffins to you? If you asked, heโd definitely agree.โ
โYou talk too much. Letโs move.โ
โIโm just looking out for you. Youโll be hungry until lunch if you donโt eat.โ
Josiah overheard their conversation and thought that if Howard were well, he would never let Yvette go hungry. He glanced at Sienna, who was still waiting, and said, โIโll get you more.โ
With that, he hurried after Yvette, calling out, โYvette!โ
Yvette paused, confused. โWhatโs up?โ
Josiah handed her the bag. โHere you go. How can you get through the morning without eating? You need to take care of yourself.โ
โButโฆโ Yvette hesitated, reluctant to accept. โWhat about Sienna?โ
Josiah chuckled, clearly unfazed. โThere are other muffins. Iโll get some for her later. She wonโt starve.โ
โWellโฆโ Yvette still hesitated.
โJust take it.โ Josiah gently held her hand and placed the bag in her palm.
Yvette smiled. โAlright then. Iโll head out now. Iโm in a bit of a rush. See you.โ
โOkay,โ Josiah replied, watching Yvette leave. He then turned to Sienna. โIโll grab some more for you. Iโll just wait in line again.โ
โNo need,โ Sienna reminded him. โDidnโt you remember? The blueberry muffins are all gone.โ
Josiah frowned, annoyed. โArenโt there other flavors? Are you really that picky? You can only eat blueberry muffins and nothing else?โ
Sienna was momentarily taken aback, then let out a bitter laugh. โMr. Flynn really knows how to play favorites. Yvette can choose to only eat blueberry muffins, but when it comes to me, Iโm the one being picky? Did he forget that the muffins he gave to appease Yvette were originally a thank-you gift he promised to me?โ
