Chapter 286
Sienna was taken aback. She had only been worried he might catch a chill. It was her fault he was enduring this embarrassment, shedding layers in the cold airโif he got sick, it would be her responsibility.
With a grin, Josiah slipped into his coat, wrapped the soiled clothes, and tossed them into a trash bin. He smiled at her. โAlright, Iโm all yours; no one else can see!โ
Sienna looked away, still lacking the courage to meet such a charming smile.
Upon returning to Silver Beach, Romilly opened the door for them. โMr. Flynn, Ms. Shaw, the meal is ready. I wonโt intrude any longer, and Iโll tidy the kitchen in the morning. Good night.โ
With that, she left. It was clear Josiah had informed her beforehand. โSienna,โ Josiah embraced her, resting his cheek against her neck, and murmured softly, โIโve missed you so much while you were gone. What about you? Did you miss me?โ
Sienna felt a flutter in her heart, her lips slightly parted. โIโฆ I did. Umโฆโ Before she could finish, Josiah lifted her chin and sealed her words with a kiss.
That night, as snow began to fall, Josiah held Sienna close, their bodies entwined in an intimate embrace that felt like the closest distance in the world.
Before dawn, Josiah woke. He lifted the covers and tiptoed to the wardrobe. When he returned, Sienna was awake, draped in a cashmere shawl, her long hair loosely gathered behind her head. Josiah froze for a moment. โDid I wake you?โ
Sienna shook her head. โWoke up on my own. Are you leaving already?โ
โMm. I have a flight at seven.โ
Sienna glanced at the clock. โWhat about breakfast? Arenโt you eating at home?โ
โNo,โ Josiah replied, taking her hand. โI can grab something at the airport. Since youโre awake, will you walk me out?โ
โOf course,โ Sienna replied, already intending to do so. She held his hand. โLetโs go.โ
Hand in hand, they went downstairs, Sienna accompanying him to the foyer, watching as he changed his shoes. Josiah hugged Sienna, resting his forehead against hers. โCanโt bear to see me go!โ
Sienna bit her lip, refraining from a retort.
โSilly,โ Josiah smiled widely. โIโll be back in no more than half a month. Iโll call you every day. Take care of yourself; donโt make me worry.โ Sienna nodded, smiling as she gently pushed him. โItโs about time, bye.โ
Josiah released her. โIโm off. Wait for me.โ He turned, opened the door, and, noticing the wind might bother Sienna, waved goodbye. โGo back inside; donโt let the cold get to you and the baby.โ
As the door closed, Siennaโs eyes filled with tears. She softly murmured, โJosiah, goodbyeโฆโ They would never see each other again.
