Chapter 300
After a light lunch, Joyce fell asleep. Sienna’s phone chimed with a message from Josiah: "I'm downstairs." He had come to deliver medication. Sienna put on a coat and went downstairs to collect the package.
Every week, Josiah delivered the medication. He pointed to the bag. "The pillbox is labeled with dosage instructions. Joyce will also need injections at the hospital every week. I'll remind you when it's time."
Sienna nodded, picking up the bag. "Thank you for your help. You should get back to work."
"Sienna," Josiah stopped her, concern evident in his voice. "If anything comes up, don't hesitate to call me."
"Alright."
"Sienna…" Josiah hesitated, his brow furrowing.
Sienna, confused, smiled lightly. "What's up? Why so serious?"
Josiah looked away, his eyes lingering on her flat abdomen. "How's your health?"
Having recently had surgery for an ectopic pregnancy, Sienna knew even the best surgery could affect her body. "I'm fine," she replied.
"That's good to hear," Josiah nodded, but his expression remained concerned. He clearly had more on his mind.
His hesitation began to annoy Sienna. "What do you really want to say?"
Josiah clenched his jaw, gathering courage. "You heard Xenon's comments today. What are your plans?" Though unspoken, Sienna understood he was asking about having another child.
Sienna frowned, considering. "It's too early to think about that now; we should wait at least six months."
"I understand," Josiah's gaze was serious. "And what about after six months?"
Sienna paused. Josiah continued, "For Joyce's sake, we need to think ahead. What if we still can't find a donor by then?"
That would leave only one final option. Sienna's heart tightened as she knitted her brows. "What do you mean by 'thinking ahead'?" She wondered if he was hinting at reconciliation.
"Don't be alarmed," Josiah, understanding her thoughts, said gently.
With a bitter laugh, he said, "I won't force you into anything. What I mean is, if we plan to have another child… you need to ensure your health is good."
Sienna nodded. "Yes."
"Now," Josiah said, his expression lightening as he became more direct, "it's wise for you to see a doctor."
"Me?" Sienna asked, puzzled.
"I've looked into it, and ectopic pregnancies can recur. If you want another child, you need to prioritize your health. Even if you don't want to get pregnant, looking after your health is still important."
His thoughts were careful and sensible. Sienna's emotions were mixed, but she recognized the truth in his words. Finally, she agreed. "Wonderful."
Josiah seemed relieved, taking a deep breath. "I'll take care of the arrangements. I'll find you a good doctor." He glanced at his watch. "I have a meeting this afternoon; I need to go."
Sienna stood still, watching him drive away. A strange feeling of disorientation washed over her. She thought, Is this thoughtful, rational Mr. Flynn really the same man as the cold him from before? Yet, his recent kindness only made my painful memories of him even stronger!
As the cold wind blew, Sienna pulled her coat tighter and headed indoors.
Later, Sienna visited the television station. Shannon called to inform her that she had left some belongings at the station, which had been set aside for her.
Upon arrival, Sienna found Shannon, collected her belongings, and prepared to leave. While waiting for the elevator, she bumped into Derek.
He was on the phone, urgency in his voice. "No, this isn't beautiful enough! How beautiful does it need to be? Fine… I understand…" After hanging up, Derek exclaimed in frustration, "Damn it! Why don't you find someone yourself?!"
Sienna waved lightly, smiling softly. "Hello, it's been a while."
"Sienna!" Derek's surprise was clear as he took her hand. "It's been way too long! How have you been?"
"I'm doing quite well."
"What brings you to the station?"
Sienna briefly explained her situation. Derek's eyes widened. "So you're not in Lightning Dance anymore?"
Sienna confirmed with a nod. At that time, she hadn't known about her ectopic pregnancy. But due to personal issues, she had caused Brenda considerable trouble, making a return to Lightning Dance impossible.
"Oh dear," Derek's eyes brightened as he squeezed Sienna's hand. "Sienna, you've got to help me!"
Sienna was confused. "But Derek…"
"I mean it!" Derek insisted. "Mr. Carter is struggling with his new film. There's a character described as the epitome of beauty… He's turned down so many actresses, saying they're not beautiful enough!"
Sienna's interest was piqued. "Sienna!" Before she could respond, Derek blurted, "You have to help me! If it's you, Mr. Carter will definitely be happy!"
Sienna instinctively refused. "Derek, I can't…"
"Don't worry!" Derek understood her fears. "This time, you won't need to meet the producer. Mr. Carter can make the decisions for this film!"
Sienna hesitated. "What's stopping you?" Derek urged. "You've left Lightning Dance. The role isn't big, and you'll get paid. Why not take the chance?"
Sienna's brow furrowed; she was torn. "Sienna, please, just help me," Derek begged, clasping his hands together. "It's a small role, and it doesn't mean you're re-entering the industry. Would you consider it?"
Sienna was conflicted. Derek had helped her in the past, and right now, her schedule was open. "Well…" Sienna bit her lip. "Can I have a little time to learn more about this?"
"Absolutely!" Derek grabbed his phone. "I'll send you the address, and come see me tomorrow morning!"
"Alright. I guess that's okay."
"Thank you, Sienna! You've literally saved my life!"
