Chapter 320

โ€œSienna, you dare to run!โ€ Yvette didnโ€™t hesitate, immediately pursuing her. Sienna was fast, but Yvette was relentless. They finally confronted each other in the elevator lobby.

โ€œDonโ€™t run!โ€ Yvette grabbed Siennaโ€™s arm fiercely, her eyes blazing with anger and icy fury. โ€œYou think you can just escape after what youโ€™ve done to Josiah?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m the reason heโ€™s hurt?โ€ Sienna scoffed, a cold smile playing on her lips. She appeared composed and focused. โ€œYou were on the plane with him; you know exactly how he was injured. His injury has nothing to do with me.โ€

Yvette laughed sarcastically. โ€œSure, his injury may not be directly your fault, but look at him now. You canโ€™t deny itโ€™s related to you. He delayed his treatment just to see you! Do you really think youโ€™re innocent?โ€

โ€œWhat kind of twisted logic is that!โ€ Sienna shook her head, a dry laugh escaping her lips. โ€œThatโ€™s his issue, not mine. I had no idea he was hurt! He didnโ€™t mention it.โ€

โ€œThe fact that heโ€™s lying there now is his choice! Itโ€™s not my problem, so donโ€™t blame me. I wonโ€™t take the fall for this.โ€

Yvette gritted her teeth, infuriated. โ€œWhat a clever tongue you have! Iโ€™m not here to argue.โ€ She forcibly pulled Sienna along. โ€œLetโ€™s go back. Youโ€™re his girlfriend! Youโ€™re not just going to abandon him in crisis.โ€

โ€œLet go!โ€ Sienna frowned, struggling. โ€œGirlfriend?โ€ She forced a smile. โ€œYou donโ€™t even know? Josiah and I broke up. We have nothing to do with each other anymore! Iโ€™m not his girlfriend.โ€

Yvetteโ€™s eyes widened in shock. When did this happen? Had they broken up while I was in Lacustria? In that moment of surprise, the elevator doors opened. Without a backward glance, Sienna stepped inside. The doors closed behind her, leaving Yvette frozen.

As soon as they arrived at Sunshine Neighborhood, Joyceโ€™s cries filled the air. Tara held her, trying to soothe her. โ€œDonโ€™t cry, donโ€™t cry,โ€ she murmured, stroking Joyceโ€™s forehead. โ€œYouโ€™re not feverish, Joyce. Whatโ€™s bothering you?โ€

Rosie chimed in, โ€œMommyโ€™s back!โ€

Tara turned, relieved. โ€œJoyce, Mommyโ€™s home! Go to Mommy!โ€

Tears streamed down Joyceโ€™s face as she reached for Sienna. โ€œMommy!โ€

โ€œLet me hold you,โ€ Sienna said, her heart aching. She embraced Joyce, kissing her forehead. โ€œWhy are you crying, sweetheart? Does your tummy hurt?โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Joyce said, shaking her head through her tears. She snuggled closer. โ€œJoyce missed Mommyโ€ฆโ€

Sienna smiled gently. โ€œMommy missed you, too.โ€

Joyce looked up, her eyes glistening. โ€œJosiah didnโ€™t come. Josiah lied! Josiahโ€™s a bad guy!โ€

Siennaโ€™s heart sank. โ€œNo, thatโ€™s not true.โ€

Sienna sat on the couch with Joyce, speaking softly. โ€œJosiah came last night, but you were sleeping so soundly he didnโ€™t want to wake you.โ€

Rosie confirmed, โ€œI can vouch for it.โ€

Joyce pouted. โ€œItโ€™s all Joyceโ€™s fault for being asleep.โ€

To alleviate her daughterโ€™s disappointment, Sienna showed her a video from the previous night. โ€œJoyce, look! Josiah held you last night and even set off fireworks for you!โ€

Watching the video, Joyceโ€™s face lit up, and she stopped crying. โ€œHahaha! Thatโ€™s true! Joyce my name!โ€

Sienna ran her fingers through her daughterโ€™s hair. โ€œJosiah prepared that just for you.โ€

Joyce giggled, burying herself in her motherโ€™s embrace. โ€œJosiah likes Joyce.โ€

โ€œHe really does,โ€ Sienna replied, her voice trembling with emotion.

In the hospital, Josiahโ€™s condition was stable, but he remained unconscious.

Howard glanced at Yvette. โ€œYou just got back last night; you must be exhausted. Go home and rest.โ€

โ€œNo,โ€ Yvette refused. โ€œIโ€™ll stay with Josiah. Weโ€™ve faced everything together since we were kids.โ€

Howardโ€™s brow furrowed. โ€œGrandma doesnโ€™t know about this yet. Go home to avoid suspicion. Cheer her up.โ€ He explained the old ladyโ€™s poor health and their decision to withhold information. โ€œJosiah doesnโ€™t even know when heโ€™ll wake up. Letโ€™s take turns.โ€

Yvette nodded. โ€œAlright. Iโ€™ll go.โ€

As she stood to leave, she paused. โ€œHoward, how have you been these past few days?โ€

Howard froze, the image of Rosie flashing through his mind. He replied gently, โ€œIโ€™m doing alright. What about you?โ€

โ€œGood to hear,โ€ Yvette smiled, her expression somewhat strained. โ€œIโ€™m doing well tooโ€ฆ Even though we broke up, Howardโ€ฆ weโ€™re still family, right?โ€

โ€œOf course,โ€ Howard affirmed, his dark eyes meeting hers. โ€œFrom the moment I brought you into the Flynn family, youโ€™re a part of us for life.โ€

Yvette beamed. โ€œIโ€™ll head home now.โ€

Once Yvette left the hospital room, her smile vanished. Family! she thought. But I donโ€™t want to be just an honorary member; I want to be a true Flynn.

Later, after resting, Yvette returned. The room was quiet; Howard slept on the couch. Yvette checked on Josiah. His vitals were stable, and he seemed to be resting peacefully. Her heart raced with worry. Back then, Howard was like this. What if he just slept forever?

Looking at Josiah, she whispered, โ€œJosiah, the doctor said you can hear us, right? You must be tired from all the trips to Jeiacrity. Itโ€™s okay to sleep a little longer, but only a bit, right? Please wake up soon. Both Howard and I are waiting for you. You suffered so much back then and pulled through; you can do it this time too.โ€

She draped a fallen blanket over Howard. Then, she noticed a small box on the coffee tableโ€”a pencil case containing a single automatic pencil.
