Chapter 347

Josiah's eyes narrowed, filled with shock and anger, but he found no words. After a brief exchange of glances, Cedric turned and hurried Sienna toward the ambulance. Josiah quickly followed.

Once at the ambulance, Cedric gently laid Sienna down as the medical staff brought a stretcher. They applied an oxygen mask and started an IV line.

"Doctor, how is she?" Cedric and Josiah stood close, anxiously watching the unconscious Sienna.

"Carbon monoxide poisoning. The mask isn't providing enough oxygen! The patient is in a coma and shock and needs immediate treatment to avoid brain swelling! Get her to the hospital now!"

"Understood," Cedric and Josiah nodded, their expressions serious. Sienna was lifted into the ambulance, and both men followed.

Sitting opposite each other, neither man met the other's gaze. Their attention was entirely on Sienna, who lay between them. The atmosphere was thick with worry and tension.

At the hospital, nurses quickly admitted Sienna to the emergency room. The sounds of doctors' orders filled the air: "Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, now! Mannitol! Prepare epinephrine!"

The closing door forced Josh and Cedric to lock eyes, revealing simmering hostility and embarrassment. Josiah, his face clouded with unease, finally spoke: "Cedric, thank you for today."

Cedric raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Hmmโ€ฆ Josiah, why thank me? I hardly did anything deserving of your thanks, did I?"

Josiah, confused, tried to suppress his irritation. "You saved Sienna, and Iโ€ฆ"

"I saved Sienna," Cedric interrupted, smirking. "But why thank me? Your relationship with Sienna is over; you're merely a suitor. Isn't that inappropriate?"

His words, though indifferent, pierced Josiah's heart. Their fragile truce shattered. Tension crackled.

Josiah narrowed his eyes, his voice laced with cold disdain. "At least I'm still trying to pursue her. What about you!" He leaned in, mockingly. "Tell me, boy, does your mother approve of you pursuing her?"

Cedric faltered. This was undeniable; it was why he'd withdrawn from Sienna. A self-deprecating smile crept onto his face. "I know I'm incapable."

Josiah retorted with a smirk of triumph. "So you know! You should keep your distance from her. I would hate for your mother to do anything vileโ€ฆ"

"And yours?" Cedric shot back, fixing a steady gaze on him. "I only went after Sienna when I saw her being taken by a van. How did that happen if you weren't involved?"

"Someone as innocent as Sienna couldn't possibly have enemies; it surely involved the Flynn family," Cedric added. "It was because of youโ€ฆ"

Josh tensed, his nerves on fire. Cedric, stepping closer, gripped Josiah's collar. "Aren't you just as incapable! You put her in danger too!"

The image of Sienna surrounded by flames haunted Cedric. "You realize how close it was! If I had arrived even a moment later, Sienna would have been crushed or buried alive!"

Josiah froze, his eyes wide with shock. Imagining it sent him spiraling into despair.

"Even now," Cedric mocked, anguish filling his voice, "can you guarantee Sienna's safety? What if she has lasting damageโ€”physical or psychological?"

Cedric's frustration mounted. "Sienna suffered because of you, where were you? You think you can doโ€ฆ?"

Chapter 317

Josiah opened his mouth, but no words came out. His face was cold.

Cedric's laughter turned bitter. "Sienna is so unfortunate, stuck with two useless fools like us!" Both claiming to love her, yet neither able to provide her safety, stability, or happiness.

The emergency room door swung open. "Are Sienna's family members present? Please step forward."

Cedric and Josiah looked up; Cedric stepped forward quickly. "Here!"

"Sienna will soon be moved to the ward; please complete the necessary paperwork."

"Of course!" Cedric took the form.

Once the paperwork was done, Sienna was taken to her room. The nurse left, leaving Cedric and Josiah at the door. They still hadn't seen Sienna.

Cedric gestured toward the ward. "How is Sienna? May we go in?"

The nurse replied, "She's regained consciousness but is weak. The oxygen treatment has just finished; she can't speak yet. You may enter one at a time, but please be quiet."

"Thank you." Hearing Sienna had woken, Cedric breathed a sigh of relief. He avoided Josiah's gaze, striding toward the ward.

But as he reached the doorknob, Josiah grabbed his arm, their gazes locked in a tense standoff. Cedric frowned. "The nurse said only one person can enter at a time!"

Josiah tilted his head, refusing to budge. "I will go in first!"

"By what right?"

"Enough," the nurse interjected. "This isn't a marketplace. This is a hospital! Is Cedricโ€ฆ?"

"I am!" Cedric exclaimed.

"Then you may enter first," the nurse said, pointing to the door. "Moments ago, I heard her mumbling your name."

"Yes, that's me!" Cedric replied joyfully. Without looking back at Josiah, he opened the door and entered.
