Chapter 55

Sienna wondered if the night's events had been too thrilling, leaving her mind in a whirl. She was surprised to find a bag of lollipops inside her bag.

"Why are you daydreaming?" Josiah glanced at her quickly. "Take one."

Sienna nodded. "Oh, okay." She reached in, picked one up, unwrapped it obediently, and handed it to him. "Here."

Josiah's lips curved into a slight smile. "Why are you giving it to me?"

Sienna was confused. She thought Josiah wanted her to unwrap a lollipop for him, but now he didn't want it. She felt tricked.

Seeing her dumbfounded expression, Josiah clicked his tongue, freed a hand, and took the lollipop from her. "Open your mouth."

"Huh?" Caught off guard, Sienna opened her mouth, though not in compliance.

Even though she wasn't complying, Josiah still achieved his goal. He held the lollipop and placed it in her mouth.

Sienna was full of questions. She didn't know what was going on.

"Ha ha," Josiah looked at her and smiled. For once, they weren't arguing or bickering. His genuine smile revealed a boyish innocence. He lifted his chin toward her. "Well? How's it taste?"

Sienna was silent for a couple of seconds, swallowed, then nodded blankly. "Yeah."

"Is it that good? So much that you can't even talk?" Josiah glanced at her through the rearview mirror, nudging her playfully. "Just going to eat it all by yourself? There are plenty more. Aren't you going to offer me one?"

Sienna quickly grabbed another, peeled off the wrapper, and held it to his mouth. "Here you go."

"Mm," Josiah leaned down and took a bite. The sugary taste spread on his tongue. He didn't know what was so good about lollipops, thinking only young girls would like the sweet taste. Considering Sienna's age, she could almost count as a young girl. It wasn't surprising she liked it.

"Last time, I threw away your lollipop," Josiah said with a pout. "And you got all mad at me. Look, I got you a whole bag of them in all kinds of flavors. Happy now!"

Sienna was so shocked she couldn't speak.

Seeing her daze, Josiah frowned. "What? Don't like it?"

"Well," Sienna quickly shook her head. "No, not really... I like them a lot, thanks."

Even though she had no idea why he suddenly acted like this, she wouldn't dare say she didn't like it. She couldn't upset Josiah lest he send her back to the police station.

"Glad to hear you like it," Josiah said with satisfaction. The lollipop slowly melted in his mouth, yet Josiah didn't notice. His lips remained curved upward, showing a hint of a happy smile.

Back at the apartment, Sienna's phone started ringing. Actually, it had been ringing in the car. She didn't want to answer, so she put it on silent. But it seemed her not answering only made him keep calling. It was quite annoying.

Sienna swiped to answer. "Hello."

"Sienna!" The man on the other end sounded worried. "Why couldn't I reach you? Are you okay? Did the police give you any trouble?"

Sienna let out a silent, cold laugh. His concern always came a bit too late. "I'm fine. Hanging up—"

"Wait," the man hurried to stop her. "Uh, about the money, I left in such a rush. I forgot to give you the card. I've got the money ready. Let's set up another time so I can give you the card."

"No need."

"Sienna?" The man was surprised. "Are you upset?"

Sienna didn't respond to his question. She simply said what she wanted to. "I'll figure out the money on my own. As for you—let's not contact each other anymore. After this call, I'll block you. Please, do the same for me."

"Sien—" Without waiting for him to finish, Sienna hung up and immediately blocked him. She looked up and blinked. She couldn't believe she hadn't learned her lesson and even asked him for help again.

But after tonight, it wouldn't happen again. He would never know what she endured alone every time he turned and left.

Sienna closed her eyes, feeling a slight wetness under her lids. She mumbled softly, "Don't cry, Sienna." She would find a way. For Joyce, she'd definitely find a way.

The nightlife in Maze was as vibrant as ever, full of colorful lights and lively chatter. Sienna was still the top hostess, but ever since the incident a few days ago, everyone knew she was Josiah's girl.

So, everyone admired her from a distance, and no one dared to make a move. But as time went on, some couldn't help but notice something was off. It seemed Josiah wasn't as interested in Sienna as he had been at first.

Rumors were circulating that his initial excitement for her had faded. He hadn't been around for a long time. Not only that, the usual gifts like flowers and late-night snacks were also absent.

Those who frequented such places understood what was happening. It seemed like Josiah had already forgotten about Sienna. Given the situation, some couldn't resist the temptation to try their luck.

After a period of quiet, many started turning up again to support Sienna. Tonight, as soon as Sienna arrived, the dressing room was already filled with flowers.

"Sienna, you're here!" Henry greeted cheerfully, pointing at the room filled with flowers. "See, Sienna's charm is truly unique, isn't it?" It was just as impressive as when Josiah first visited.

Sienna asked, "Are those from Mr. Jones?"

"Yes," Henry nodded with a smile. "Mr. Jones has put quite a bit of effort into this for you."

Sienna furrowed her brow and asked, "What does Mr. Jones intend by this?"

"What?" Henry looked a bit surprised. "Are you asking—?"

Sienna nodded. "I mean, is Mr. Jones expecting me to entertain him, or does he have another purpose?"

"Well," the bluntness of her question caught Henry off guard. While dancers at Maze sometimes ended up with clients, it wasn't common for someone to ask as directly as Sienna did. Henry had never come across someone like her before. Usually, he was the one to convey the client's wishes. He honestly admitted, "Mr. Jones hasn't specified anything."

"Oh." Sienna nodded, showing she understood, and then asked, "Can I meet Mr. Jones after today?" She pointed at the flowers filling the room. "With all the effort Mr. Jones has put in, I'd like to thank him personally."

"Sure," Henry had no issues with that. He preferred proactive employees like Sienna. "Shall I arrange it then?"

"Yes, thank you, Mr. White."

"No problem." Henry turned around to get back to work but couldn't help but sigh inwardly. Such a beauty, and it's going to be snatched up by that old geezer, Ryan?

But after thinking it over, if Sienna really ended up with Mr. Jones, it would only benefit Maze.

Following Henry's arrangement, after the performance, Sienna took off her makeup, changed clothes, and went to Mr. Jones's suite.

"Mr. Jones," Henry led Sienna in, his face full of smiles. "Sienna is here."
