Chapter 87

Sienna didn't realize what had happened until Josiah left. She thought, Did he just come over to bring some pasta primavera?

Early the next morning, Sienna left her home. Over the past few days, she had contacted several dance clubs, planning to audition for all of them. Strangely, after several interviews, none had accepted her.

For today's club, she had scheduled an online appointment and sent a dance video, but knew a live performance would be necessary because videos could be edited.

“Sienna, right?” said the manager.

“Yes,” Sienna said, feeling nervous. Unexpectedly, after reviewing her resume, the manager didn't even ask her to dance. Instead, he said, “Sorry, you don’t quite meet our requirements.” He then handed her resume back.

“Again?” Sienna thought. Unable to understand, she frowned and asked, “Could you please tell me what doesn’t meet your criteria?” She believed she was a qualified dancer, both in appearance and professional skills.

“Sorry,” the manager said curtly, without further explanation. “You can leave now.”

Unable to figure it out, Sienna had no choice but to stand up and say goodbye.

Meanwhile, in the CEO's office of the Flynn Group, Josiah's phone rang on his desk while he was in a meeting. Yvette glanced at it, hesitated, then answered.

“Hello?”

On the other end was the manager who had just rejected Sienna. He called to take credit for his actions, unaware he was speaking to Yvette, and began with a fawning tone.

“Mr. Flynn, Sienna came today. As per your instructions, I’ve turned her down! I think I need to tell you…”

Huh? Yvette curved her lips and asked, “What did Josiah ask you to do? What do you mean by turning down Sienna?”

The manager panicked, realizing it wasn't Josiah on the other end. “Well…”

“This is Yvette. You can tell me anything,” Yvette said calmly. “If you don’t tell me, I’ll ask him later. Then I can still know everything, right?”

“Okay, I’ll tell you,” said the manager, hesitating only briefly. He thought, Everyone in Jelacrity knows Yvette's position in the Flynn family. Rumor has it she is favored by both Josiah and his brother.

“It’s like this. Mr. Flynn has ordered that no dance troupes are allowed to hire Sienna,” said the manager.

“That’s it?” Yvette asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, that’s it.”

Yvette smiled and hung up the phone. Shaking her head, she murmured, “Really?” She thought, Why was he blocking Sienna from getting a job? Whatever the reason, it’s definitely not out of kindness. What is Sienna doing now? Being unable to find a job, is she weeping?

Yvette chuckled. Remembering their recent meal together, she’d thought their relationship had improved. But it turned out she was wrong. She thought, My worries are unnecessary.

In the conference room, Thomas was also present. After the meeting, something occurred to Thomas. He said, “By the way, I told my mother what you wanted me to do a few days ago. She has already contacted a dance teacher. Ms. Scott is free tomorrow night, so you can take Sienna to her dance troupe.”

“Really?” Josiah asked, smiling and nodding at Thomas. “Thanks.”

“My pleasure,” Thomas said, feeling overly polite. “It’s not a difficult thing.”

Ms. Scott was a leading figure in modern dance, with the top dance troupe in Jelacrity. Tickets for their world tour were very difficult to get; they were renowned nationwide and celebrated worldwide. Thomas's mother and Brenda were childhood friends, as close as sisters. Despite being a strict person, Brenda agreed to let Sienna in through the back door for the sake of their friendship.

Thomas added, “Of course, Ms. Scott also said that it depended on how well she danced. If her dancing isn’t good enough, she won’t accept her.”

“Don’t worry about it,” Josiah said with a smirk, remembering Sienna's breathtaking dance in Maze.

“She’s a great dancer,” Josiah said.

“Huh?” Thomas said, curious because he saw a hint of admiration on his friend's face. “Who is she? Which girl has caught your attention like this?”

Josiah rolled his eyes. “Don’t pry into things that aren’t your business!” This was not the proper time.

“Well…” Thomas said, naturally suspicious. “Is it that girl from the Maze?” He thought, Among all the women I know, over the years, Josiah only shows interest in this girl.

Glaring at him, Josiah said, “I told you not to be so gossipy!”

“Oh,” Thomas said, understanding immediately. “So it’s true!” He burst into laughter. “Haha… Why not let me know in advance? If it’s her, there’s nothing to worry about. Her dancing is amazing.”

Josiah cast an icy glance at him. “You saw her very clearly, did you?”

Thomas thought, Is he jealous? Of course! How could anyone else compete for the girl loved by Mr. Flynn?

“No, no, not…” Thomas wisely changed the subject. “It’s great because she can learn from Ms. Scott.”

“Of course!” Josiah thought. Sienna doesn’t know what’s good for her! In a place like Maze, can she dance her entire life? If she wants to keep dancing, she can’t waste time in a place like that. She is too young to make plans for her future, so I have to do it for her.

After they parted, Josiah returned to the CEO’s office and saw Yvette. He was stunned for a moment and asked, “Yvette, why are you here?”

“Well, am I not welcome?” Yvette chuckled, standing up. “After finishing my work early today, I decided to find you to go home to have dinner with Grandma. I’ve been so busy these days that I haven’t spent enough time with her. She might be a bit upset about it.”

“How could she be?” Josiah walked over to his desk, put down a folder, shut down his computer, and tidied the table. “I’m ready. We can leave now.”

“Okay,” Yvette said, walking up to Josiah and linking her arm with his. “Let’s go.”

Josiah was slightly surprised and looked down at her arm linked with his.

“What’s wrong?” Yvette asked in surprise. “Is something wrong with me?” She touched her face. “Is my makeup smudged?”

Josiah moved his gaze away from her arm, shook his head, and said, “No, let’s go.”

Without finding a job yesterday, Sienna had to keep trying today. She needed to attend an interview at a dance training institution. There was no choice. Even though the salary in places like Maze was high, she hadn’t had a job for many days, so she had to grasp every opportunity.

On the way, her phone rang. It was Josiah.

“Hello,” Sienna said, hesitating before answering.

“Why is your voice like this?” Josiah said, quickly noticing something was wrong. “Are you feeling down? Are you sick?”

“No,” Sienna wasn’t in the mood to explain. She asked, “Do you have anything important to tell me?”

“Can’t I call you without anything important?” Josiah said.

With something important to do today, Josiah said, “I’ll pick you up at six tonight. Wait for me at home.”

“What?” Sienna was taken aback. “Why should I…”

Before she could finish, Josiah interrupted her. “See you then. I have a lot of things to do now. See you.”
