Chapter 0103
“What are you doing here?” Suzy’s tone was sharp, her glare fixed on the man who shouldn’t be there. Unsure how long he’d been standing there, she watched Dylan, who was casually washing some fruit, look up at her. Following his gaze, Suzy suddenly realized her pants were still half-down. Her face grew warm, thankful she’d only taken off her outer pants. If it had been any more…
She scowled, a cold smile playing on her lips. “What, did you come here just to catch me in an embarrassing moment?”
Dylan didn’t respond, instead rinsing the last few strawberries before picking up the fruit bowl and walking toward her. Seeing him approach, Suzy moved aside, blocking his path minimally to avoid contact. The irritation in her eyes was crystal clear, and Dylan caught it with a faint glint in his own.
As he passed, he leaned in slightly, close enough to murmur, “Nice legs.”
Suzy fell silent.
Fuming, she stormed into the restroom, deciding that, if it weren’t for her urgent need, she’d gladly make him regret that comment.
When she came back out, Dylan was lounging on the sofa, calmly eating strawberries, and her irritation flared anew. She crossed her arms and stood before him.
“Our patent application was rejected, and if I’m not mistaken, that’s thanks to you. So, tell me—did Mark turn us down because your influence is that strong, or are you two just very close friends?”
Unable to find anything concrete, she figured she’d cut to the chase. After all, she had every reason to ask.
Dylan’s gaze remained fixed on her for a long moment before his tall frame rose from the sofa, leaning close. Just as Suzy tensed, wondering what he intended, he popped a strawberry into her mouth. “Tastes good. Try it.”
Suzy was speechless. What the hell? She spat out the strawberry. “I don’t eat strawberries—and certainly not ones you’ve touched!”
Dylan’s gaze flicked briefly to the discarded strawberry, and his expression shifted—not to anger, but to something unreadable. Whatever it was, he quickly concealed it, looking back at her with detached indifference.
After a moment’s glance, he turned to leave, pausing at the door with his back to her. “Claude isn’t as simple as you think.”
Without missing a beat, Suzy shot back, “No matter what he is, he’s still better than you!”
That finally made Dylan turn, his gaze locking onto hers. Suzy thought he might have something to say, but he merely let a flicker cross his eyes before turning back and opening the door.
Just as he stepped out, she raised her voice. “You really think sabotaging the patent application will help get your energy project off the ground? Last I heard, Tina still hasn’t agreed to work with you.”
Dylan didn’t respond, stepping out and closing the door behind him.
Suzy frowned, muttering to herself, “Did he just come here to stir up trouble?”
Feeling annoyed, she reached for the bowl of fruit he had washed, ready to toss it in the trash. But just as she moved, the door opened again from the outside.
Assuming it was Dylan returning, she didn’t even look up. “If you’re really that bored, Dylan, go do some charity work. Maybe balance out all the bad karma you’ve piled up.”
“Suzy…”
Hearing Diana’s voice, Suzy turned around quickly. “Diana?”
Diana walked in, setting a thermos on the table. “From the way you were talking, I assume you and my brother had another argument?”
