Chapter 60
The flight home was long. Cole's driver arrived at the airport on time to pick up the family. The twins were asleep, occupying the back seat with Hailey while Cole sat in the front. They arrived at Hailey's home after 8 p.m. The driver unloaded the luggage while Cole and Hailey carried the twins inside.
Both parents changed the boys into pajamas and tucked them in. Hailey and Cole kissed their foreheads. They stood apart, smiling. Cole put his arms around Hailey's waist, pulling her close.
She smiled, looking at him. "This has become your favorite thing to do with me." Hailey tiptoed and kissed him.
"Don't blame me, you're a drug I'm addicted to."
Hailey giggled, burying her head against his chest. Cole smiled and kissed her forehead.
"Who do you think looks like me most?" she whispered, referring to the sleeping twins.
"Both, equally. But I think Enzo has my temper."
Hailey chuckled. "I was about to say that. He can be quite bossy and commanding, just like you."
"I'm not bossy."
"Oh really?" Hailey challenged, pulling away and folding her arms. "I think I'm not bossy with you, but maybe I am with others."
"Seeing them both at first glance, I got so scared."
Hailey chuckled. "You sure? I remember you being really confident."
Cole shook his head. "I was a mess inside, seeing two little boys who looked like me. It took me days to process that. I was going crazy, so I opened up to Jess."
"I almost can't believe you. You were with them until they fell asleep that night."
Cole nodded. "Thanks to them. They welcomed me with open arms. They didn't resent me for being absent. They were so nice, friendly, and polite that I didn't realize my anxiety had gone."
"You raised two amazing young men in my absence, and I'll forever be grateful." Cole stared at Hailey with adoration.
"I won't lie, it was hard telling them apart at first, but by the second time I saw them, I could tell who was who."
Hailey chuckled. "It's normal. It took a while to tell them apart after birth. I would wear Enzo's clothes on Ollie and Ollie's on Enzo."
"What's on your mind? I hope you're not feeling bad again."
Cole shook his head. "I know you missed an important part of their lives, but you don't need to beat yourself up about it."
"I tell you these memories as often as I remember them so you'll know what it was like for us."
Hailey intertwined her hands with Cole's. "We will definitely make more beautiful memories."
"Definitely! Words can't describe how amazing you are. Thank you for being you."
Hailey nodded.
"How many kids have you always wanted?"
Hailey blushed. She opened her mouth, then shrugged. "I don't know. I never really thought about it. I mean, I never dreamt of having twins, but look at me."
"What about you? Any thoughts?"
"I want four. So I think we've got two more to go."
"Four babies!" Hailey smiled.
"With whom?" She feigned innocence.
"Hailey Riley."
Hailey chuckled. "We'll see about that."
Hands intertwined, they left the twins' bedroom and went to the living room. He sat on the couch, and Hailey got comfortable on his lap. "Thank you for the mini-vacation."
"I should be thanking you. I'm glad you agreed to it. I'll plan another one soon. It will be better than this, I promise."
Hailey chuckled. "We both have companies to run, remember."
"I don't think that's an excuse. Instead, we can use it to our advantage and travel every month."
Hailey smiled. "Who would have thought the almighty Cole is capable of ditching work?"
Cole blushed. "I'd say everyone in the office would be surprised, but I don't think so. They must have thought I went for a business meeting."
"That's reasonable. Thank you for taking great care of us."
Cole brought his hand to her face, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "You're all my priority, so you've got nothing to thank me for."
"What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?"
Cole smiled. "What do you have in mind?"
"You're thinking of something dirty, aren't you?"
Cole blushed. "I have meetings in the morning, but I can clear my schedule for the afternoon."
"Ollie and Enzo will resume school tomorrow. I was thinking we could surprise them. I'll inform their school that you'll be picking them up in the afternoon. You can take them out before bringing them home. I'll try to be home early too, so I can make dinner."
Cole smiled. "Deal."
"I'll be bringing my sleeping clothes too."
Hailey smiled. "My bed is big enough."
"How did I get so lucky to have you?"
Hailey stole a kiss. "I'm glad you're in my life too."
"I hate to let you go, but isn't your driver waiting?" Hailey announced. "We're going to continue where we left off tomorrow."
"I can't wait, and who knows, I might model the lingerie you got me for you if you're good."
Hailey chuckled, seeing the desire in Cole's eyes.
"You know how to tease me, don't you?"
"I did nothing wrong." She was almost getting up when he pulled her back and slipped his hand under her top, instantly massaging her breasts.
"I don't know who you love most—myself or my boobs."
"Your boobs make me lose my senses, but I can't do without you."
"You always know what to say to me."
"Not really. I speak from my heart. I lost you once, and I can't afford to lose you again."
Cole lifted her shirt. He located her left nipple with his mouth and sucked on it, kneading her other nipple with his fingers. Hailey pressed her lips together, trying not to moan. Her body was very sensitive to his touch.
Cole eventually pulled away. He lowered her shirt and kissed her forehead. "I promised not to do too much today. I don't want to add to your soreness. We'll continue tomorrow."
Hailey nodded, trying not to feel disappointed.
Hands intertwined, they exited the house. She walked him to the car.
Cole smiled, wrapping his arms around her. "There will come a day when we'll live in a big, beautiful mansion. You're going to be the last person I see before I go to bed and the first person I see when I wake up."
Hailey laughed, her heart filled with pride and joy. "We've got a really bright future ahead of us, don't we?"
"We do! A very good and beautiful future. And I'm not going to let anyone ruin it for us."
Chapter 60 (Continued)
Cole leaned closer and kissed her. They shared a long, passionate kiss before pulling away.
"Take care. I love you." Cole hugged Hailey before getting into the car.
