Chapter 91

Hailey pulled away from the hug, staring into Cole’s eyes. “So, what next?”

Cole arched his eyebrows.

“You’re not going to leave me, are you?”

Cole brought his hand to her cheek, caressing it with the back of his fingers.

“Why would you think so?”

“This is unexpected and may conflict with your plans. I don’t want you to feel stuck with me against your will.”

“You have no idea how much I adore you. That’s why you’re letting these thoughts creep in.”

Hailey shook her head. “I’ve always done things alone, but it feels so good to have you. I trust you, Cole, but sometimes insecurities slip in.”

“Thank you for letting me know. It’s not your fault. I was an asshole back then, but I’m here to stay. I’ll keep saying that until your heart gets tired of hearing it.”

“I’ve always loved you, but you totally won my heart when I learned about Enzo and Ollie. This news warms my heart even more. It makes me want to be a better person and protect you all.”

“I know we’re going to have our hands full, but I’m not scared.” He shook his head. “Having you by my side gives me so much confidence. I promise you, today is one of my happiest days.”

“Thank you for letting us find out together. It means so much to me.”

Hailey smiled, nodding. Cole glanced at her belly, then back at her face. “When will you start to show?” He pouted. Hailey laughed. She tiptoed and kissed his pouty lips. “In a hurry?”

Cole smiled, embarrassed. “I’m sorry. I know we just found out. I think I got overly excited.”

Hailey smiled. “It’s fine. Hearing you say that gives me so much confidence that you want this as much as I do.” She placed his hand on her flat belly.

“When did we start having sex?” she asked, and he blushed. “A couple of weeks ago,” he whispered.

“So our munchkin is just a few weeks old. It’ll take a while for me to show, maybe three to four months.”

“I look forward to that. I’m so excited.”

“Yeah! Hopefully, you’ll still like me when I get bigger.”

“Get bigger?”

“Yes, when I look like a whale.”

Cole chuckled. “Don’t say that! You’re carrying a child.”

Hailey rolled her eyes. “We’ll see about that.”

“It’s crazy to think I’m going to be a mother of three. I almost can’t believe it.”

“You think so?” Cole grinned. “We could be having twins.”

Hailey playfully hit his chest. “No way!”

Cole chuckled. “Why?”

“It’s just one baby. I can feel it.”

“We agreed on six.”

“You know what?” Hailey folded her arms. “Make it twelve, but you’re not having them with me.”

“Don’t be silly.” He put his arms around her waist possessively. “I don’t want to have babies with anyone else. I’m just saying I wouldn’t mind twins or triplets.”

Hailey chuckled. “You’ve forgotten we also have companies and lots of investments to run.”

Cole shrugged. “We’ll do them all together.”

“Let’s take it step by step. Let’s have this one first, then we’ll decide where to go from there.”

Cole nodded. “So, what’s the next step?”

“When it’s safe, we’ll schedule a doctor’s appointment. She’ll run some tests and check on the baby. I’m sure I’ll need prescriptions for nausea and tiredness.”

Cole nodded, mentally taking notes.

“Ollie and Enzo will be excited to be big brothers.”

“Yeah,” Hailey smiled. “But I’d like to wait a bit before telling them, if that’s okay with you.”

“Anything’s fine with me, babe. It just means I have to work more on myself.”

“This is one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened to me, so it’ll be hard not to tell anyone, especially the boys.”

“Yes, same here. We’ll tell them soon, but not today, tomorrow, or the next day.”

“You can tell your close ones; I’m definitely telling Debbie.”

“I just want us to enjoy the good news privately for a while before telling the boys. I know they’ll be like mother hens. I can imagine Enzo waking up every day and asking when the baby’s arriving.”

Cole smiled proudly, knowing that was true.

“I understand, my love.”
