Chapter 11
Clara
Soon after Damon’s family left, I saw Alicia give me a dirty look before she left. As soon as they were gone, I turned to Damon.
“An heir? That wasn’t stated in the contract,” I murmured. Luca cleared his throat and walked up to us.
“It is stated, but I didn’t read everything aloud, and I assumed you knew you had to produce an heir for him,” Luca explained. My eyelid twitched.
“How am I supposed to know that?!” I screeched. He groaned, grabbed my shoulders, and stared into my eyes.
“Trust me, I don’t want to touch you, but we will have to produce an heir, and you will comply,” he muttered. I frowned.
“You can’t command me, Damon,” I murmured. He chuckled sinisterly.
“You will do as I say, or else the consequences will be dire. You signed the contract, and if you had read it, you’d know that anything I say goes. If I want to have sex with you tonight, I would,” he murmured. I scoffed.
“I’m not afraid of you, and I’d like to see you try,” I retorted. I was about to turn away when Damon slammed me against the wall, my back to him and my chest against the wall.
“What are you…” I gasped as he pressed his body against mine. Oh goddess, have mercy, how huge was he?!
“Do you still think you can stop, Clara?” he murmured, his fingers trailing up my thighs.
“Damon, let go of me,” I managed to say, though it came out more like a moan. My body was reacting to him in ways I didn’t know were possible. It wasn't even my wolf; it was purely physical.
“Are you sure that’s what you want, love?” he murmured, sneaking his hand under my top. I waited for him to grab my breasts, but he chuckled and withdrew.
“Despite being your mate, I am your Alpha, and you will obey me, no matter what. Know your place, baby girl, or we might have problems. You’re just here to be a trophy wife and a breeder, nothing more,” he muttered before turning and walking away, leaving me flustered.
“I hate him!” I screamed, tears stinging my eyes. I didn’t understand why I was crying, but my wolf was obviously heartbroken by her mate’s disinterest, and I hated being back under someone’s control. When would I be free?
“I’m sorry, he can be intense. Why don’t you come with me? I’ll show you your room,” Luca said softly. I sighed and followed him.
Luca tried to calm me, but I just wanted to rest, to wake up from this nightmare. I was married, expected to produce an heir, and my husband and I hated each other. How was that going to happen?
“Here’s your room. It’s a little plain, but you can decorate it however you want,” Luca said. As I walked in, I gasped at the size. No wonder Damon had been so demeaning about my room at Liam’s pack. This wasn't the master bedroom, yet it was three times the size of my old room.
Still bewildered, I turned to Luca.
“I’m okay now, thank you, but I didn’t bring any clothes. What can I wear?” I asked.
“Check the closet; there might be some of Damon’s clothes. He scatters his things everywhere, but your clothes will arrive tomorrow,” he said. I nodded.
“Okay, goodnight, Luca,” I murmured. He stared at me before sighing.
“Damon isn’t that bad once you get to know him, and I’m sure he’ll warm up to you. It’s not ideal, but it is what it is. He’ll say hurtful things and demean you, but I believe you can change him,” Luca said. I scoffed. I didn’t want to change anyone; I just wanted him out of my life.
“Okay, Luca, thank you,” I murmured. He smiled, bowed, and left.
I locked the door, sighed, and looked around. At least I had control over this room. I would decorate it as I wished.
After bathing, the tiredness vanished, so I took a stroll around the mansion, awestruck by the statues and paintings. They must have cost a fortune.
I went downstairs and saw the maids cleaning. I smiled at them; some greeted me back, others bowed.
After a while, I decided to retire, but as I was about to go upstairs, a male voice called out.
“Madam Claire, I’m Alpha Damon’s butler.” I turned to see a middle-aged man bowing.
“Oh, you can call me Claire,” I said, but he shook his head.
“That’s disrespectful, and the Alpha doesn’t take that lightly,” he murmured. Damon had said the same thing earlier.
“Do you need something?” I asked. He handed me a white envelope.
“I was told to give this to the Alpha, but it’s his alone time, so I’m giving it to you, Madam,” the butler said. I took the envelope. My heart skipped a beat as my body froze. It was a wedding invitation from Liam and Veronica. They were getting married, and they dared send an invitation?
