Chapter 110: Clara

Damon's voice was the first thing I heard the next morning. He was pacing the room, phone pressed to his ear. "Invite everyone. If they can't come last minute, I don't really give a damn," he muttered. I furrowed my eyebrows. Who was he talking to?

"Good morning," I greeted, sitting up slowly. He turned, smiled, said goodbye, and hung up. "Good morning, little devil," he murmured, kissing me.

"Little devil? It's been a while. Who was that?" I asked as he sat on the bed.

"Luca. He's sending invitations to various packs for your title-bearing ceremony," he informed me. I gasped. I hadn't expected him to make me his Luna today. "But there are so many preparations…"

"Don't worry, my love. Everything's taken care of. By the full moon, everything will be ready. Everyone's helping," he explained. I smiled.

"So I'm officially your Luna tonight?" I asked softly. He nodded, caressing my face. "Yes, and afterward, we'll go on a short vacation. What do you think?"

Going on vacation with Damon felt like a dream. We'd finally escape the drama, even if only for a little while. "I'd love that," I replied.

"Great. Now, I want breakfast," he said, pouncing on me. I shrieked as he kissed my neck. "We have to help, Damon," I moaned.

"Do you want me to stop?" he asked softly.

"No," I replied. He chuckled. "Good, because I wasn't going to."

By noon, our appetites had been satisfied and my stomach was grumbling. After bathing, we decided on lunch at a private restaurant for the Donovans and their guests. I wore comfy pink sweats, and convinced Damon to match in gray. Instantly, I regretted it; he looked incredibly handsome.

"What is it?" he asked as we strolled toward the restaurant.

"I wish you were ugly. It would save me from wanting to gouge out the eyes of every woman staring at you," I glared at the women eyeing him. He chuckled.

"How would you have fallen in love with me then?" he asked.

I frowned. "I didn't fall in love with you because of your looks, dummy. They were a bonus. Did you fall in love with me because I'm beautiful?"

He raised an eyebrow. "You're beautiful?" he teased. I huffed, trying to storm off, but he pulled me close. "You're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, Clara," he murmured, kissing my cheek.

"But you didn't fall in love with me because of that, right? It was my character?" I asked. He shook his head. "I fell in love with your smart mouth. Every time you cursed at me, it turned me on," he replied, peppering my face with kisses. "Now, let's get some food."

As we turned, we saw Alicia approaching, smiling. "Damon!" she called, running toward him. I instinctively tried to pull away, but he held my hand tightly, glaring at me before interlocking our fingers. Alicia hugged him; he hugged her back with one hand, his gaze fixed on me.

"I've missed you. Good morning, Clara," she greeted, smiling. At least she acknowledged me.

"Good morning. How are you feeling?" I asked. "I took my medicine, so I'm good, especially since Damon let me hug him. Can I talk to you for a second, Damon? Nothing inappropriate, I promise," she murmured, glancing at me. I pursed my lips, yanking my hand free.

"Clara…"

"I'll go find Delilah. When you're done, find me. Don't worry, I'm okay," I assured him, kissing his cheek before walking away.

I hurried ahead. Seeing Damon patting Alicia's head, a frown appeared on my face. I took a deep breath. I trusted Damon; there was no need for jealousy. He loved me. As I turned to leave, I bumped into someone, almost losing my balance. Strong arms caught me.

"You should watch where you're going, buttercup," a deep, silky voice said.

I looked up. The man looked almost identical to Damon—softer features, but the resemblance was undeniable. Was this…?

"Dimitri," Damon growled. I gasped. This was Damon's brother, and he had his arm around my waist! "Hello, brother," Dimitri greeted Damon, glancing at me. "What a beautiful wife you have…"
