Chapter 123 - CLARA - 62% +5
Dimitri wasn't keen on my idea, but he understood it was necessary to get rid of Aurora. We lacked proof against her; she'd brainwashed Damon and everyone else into believing she was good. Without proof, our words were baseless, and given Dimitri's reputation, no one would believe him. After talking with him, I immediately went home. I knew if Damon saw me with Dimitri after our argument, it would cause a major problem. Lost in thought, planning our next move, I didn't realize Damon had entered the living room.
"You've got something on your mind?" His voice startled me. I turned, a smile instantly appearing. His hair was disheveled, and he looked like he hadn't slept in days, but he was still the most handsome man I'd ever seen.
"How long have you been standing there?" I asked, rising and running into his arms, inhaling his scent.
"Not long. I just arrived. What's going on in that pretty head of yours?" he asked. I glanced up, shaking my head. "It's nothing. I just missed you; you've been neglecting me," I pouted. He chuckled.
"Because of your advice the other day, I've decided to become Alpha King," he announced. My eyes widened. "Are you serious? That's great news!"
He chuckled, caressing my face. "Yeah, but I'm not yet. There are things to take care of first."
"Your father must be happy. Now he can spend more time with your mother," I said.
He scoffed. "That old man has already dumped all his work on me, despite my not being Alpha King yet. Such a slacker," he muttered. I giggled, taking his hand. "Dinner first, or me first?" I grinned as he growled.
"You know the answer," he murmured, throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me upstairs. We weren't hungry afterward, so we cuddled in bed. I traced the tattoo on his abdomen, resting my head on his chest.
"What do your tattoos mean?" I asked softly.
"Not much. I was a rebellious kid. The one on my back is why they call me Death Viper," he said. I nodded slowly. "I thought it was because you were a bringer of death." He chuckled. "That too."
We enjoyed the silence for a while. Then, Damon said, "I want to tattoo your name on my body, Clara." My eyes widened.
"What?" I asked, staring up at him. He took my hand, placing it on his chest. "Right here, above my heart. If I could tattoo it on my heart, I would, because it belongs to you," he murmured. I shrieked.
"You don't have to be so cheesy, Damon," I said, and he rolled his eyes.
"You're so unromantic. I'm not doing it anymore," he scoffed, turning away. I sighed, a small smile playing on my lips. "I'm sorry, and I love that you'd want to. It means a lot. Don't be mad, hmm?" I caressed his face, but he remained turned away.
"How about I tattoo your name on my body?" I said, and his eyes widened.
"Really?" he asked. I nodded, pointing above my breast. "Right here, near my heart. Would you like that?" He immediately nodded, wrapping his arms around me.
"I would, but only if you truly want to, not just to make me happy," he murmured. I rolled my eyes. "Now who's being unromantic?" He chuckled, peppering my face with kisses. "I love you so much," he murmured. I smiled.
"Do you trust me, Damon?" I asked. He stared at me. "Of course I do, Clara," he said. "Will you always be on my side? Will you always hear my side before judging?" I asked, and he frowned.
"Why are you asking?"
"Just answer me, Damon. I need to know," I said softly. He stared into my eyes before nodding. "I've told you before that I'll always be on your side, and I meant it. No matter what," he assured me. I smiled, resting my head on his chest, relieved. I hoped he'd keep his word, because my plan would test his trust.

"You know you can always tell me if something's bothering you, right? I'll listen," he said. I smiled. He would listen, but he wouldn't believe me, especially given his trust in Aurora. I should have just let him banish her, but I wasn't only thinking of Damon and myself anymore. My hand trailed down to my stomach; I sighed. I was thinking of our unborn child. To keep our baby safe, Aurora had to be gone, even if it meant risking everything.
