Chapter 13

Clara followed Damon home, attempting to start a conversation on the way, but he ignored her, complaining about her being too loud. He said, "We have a set of rules, and we'll go over them tomorrow morning. This behavior tonight shouldn't be repeated. What if my father had found you? What would you have told him?" Clara pursed her lips.

"I didn't think of that," she murmured. He scoffed, flicked her forehead, and she winced, glaring at him.

"Hey! Why did you do that?!" she shrieked. He rolled his eyes and walked away, muttering, "Burn that shirt when you're done." She glared at the shirt; it was comfortable, and if he didn't want it, she would keep it.

Back in her room, she showered and changed into a hoodie from the closet. It smelled like Damon. She fell asleep instantly.

She groaned, slowly opening her eyes to a face inches from hers.

"Oh? You're alive," the girl said. Clara screamed, pulling the blanket around her.

"Who are you, and what are you doing in my room?" she demanded, staring at the girl, who tilted her head as if inspecting her.

"So you're my brother's mate? I thought he would have killed you the minute he saw you," the girl said. Clara's eyes widened. Damon's sister?

Taking in her appearance, she did resemble Damon, with goddess-like features: auburn hair flowing to her waist and gray eyes that followed Clara's every move. She looked like a model.

"I'm Delilah. You must be Clara. My mother wouldn't stop talking about you," Delilah said. Clara narrowed her eyes suspiciously.

"Why were you staring at me like that, and what are you doing in my room?" Clara asked. Delilah shrugged.

"I wanted to see my brother's wife. I was told this was your room, so I came to visit. You snore while you sleep, did you know that?" Delilah said, glancing around the room. "My brother is very grumpy, so to say I'm surprised he married you is an understatement. You don't seem like his type. What's the catch? Are you pregnant?" she murmured, her eyes narrowing suspiciously. Clara shook her head.

Unsure if she could tell the truth, she remained silent.

"You also talk in your sleep, and you mentioned a guy named Liam. Are you already cheating on my brother?" Delilah asked, her eyes turning yellow. Clara gasped and shook her head.

"Of course not. I…"

"Good, because I care about my brother a lot, and I hate those who try to harm him. So think about that before you try to cheat on him, okay? I'll hunt you down and make sure you regret ever being born. Okay?" Delilah said the last word so cheerfully that her threat was almost unbelievable.

These siblings were psychopaths, and Clara feared Delilah more than Damon.

"Delilah!" Damon's voice boomed. Delilah grinned.

"Speak of the devil. Won't you go down to greet your husband?" she said. Clara gaped, trying to find the right words.

"Erm, I…" Before she could speak, Delilah grabbed her hand and led her from the room.

"If you want to win my brother's heart, you have to be the perfect wife," Delilah said as they descended the stairs. Clara gasped at the sight of a man holding a large bouquet of flowers, with Damon standing angrily before him.

"What is this nonsense, Delilah?" Damon asked. Delilah released Clara's hand to hug him, but he pushed her away before she could touch him.

"Aw, I missed you. You can't say you didn't miss me back?" Delilah murmured.

"I didn't miss you. Get out of my house and take your stupid flowers with you," he muttered, pushing her away. She stumbled but recovered her balance.

She huffed, then a sinister smile appeared. "Guess what kind of flowers they are," she murmured. Damon's eyes widened as he looked at the flowers and began sneezing violently.

"You psychotic bitch! Are you trying to have me killed?!" he screamed as she laughed and made silly faces.

"It's not a serious allergy, so it won't kill you," she said. Clara's eyes widened. He was allergic to tulips, and she'd bought him a bouquet? These siblings were something else.

"You better start running because if I get my hands on you…" Damon threatened. Delilah squealed, winked at Clara, and ran from the building. Clara stood there, confused. What had she just witnessed?

She turned to Damon, who was still sneezing and coughing. He glared at her when he felt her gaze.

"What the fuck do you think you're looking at? Get rid of those flowers and come to my office now! I'm surrounded by fools!" he yelled, walking away. Clara stood there, trying to process what had happened. Were all siblings like this, or were they just odd? She had just tried to kill him.

She scratched her neck, dismissed the man with the flowers, and followed Damon. It was time to discuss the rules of their relationship, and she knew exactly what her number one rule would be.
