Listen to this chapter:

Clara, after speaking with Delilah's parents, finally took me to the dungeon to see Dimitri. It saddened me to see how long he'd been there and how Damon had nearly killed him upon his arrival. After speaking with Dimitri, I needed to talk with Damon.

We reached the dungeon and were about to enter when the guards appeared, blocking our way.

"Good day, Luna Clara and Madam Delilah. We have strict instructions not to let you in," one guard announced. I frowned.

I knew this was Damon's doing, and he was going to be sorry.

"We are here under the Alpha King's command. Are you really going to defy the Alpha King for Alpha Damon?" Delilah asked. The guards frowned, glancing at each other in confusion.

"It wasn't Alpha Damon who instructed us; it was Sir Dimitri. He doesn't want any visitors," the other guard revealed. I frowned. Dimitri knew I'd arrived, but he didn't want to see me?

"Unfortunately for him, I don't care what he wants. Try to stop me, and I'll tell my husband you put your hands on me. You know how that goes," I threatened, narrowing my eyes. They immediately yielded.

Grabbing Delilah's hand, we entered the dungeon. She led me to Dimitri's cage.

As soon as my eyes fell on Dimitri, I couldn't hold back the tears. He'd lost a lot of weight and was a shadow of the joyful, flirty Dimitri I remembered.

"I knew you'd cry, and that's why I didn't want you to come," he murmured, gazing at me.

"What the hell is going on? Haven't you been eating? Have they been treating you poorly?" I asked, gripping the bars.

"They have. He's the one who refused to eat," Delilah explained, looking at her brother with pity.

"Dimitri"

"I'm glad you're okay. Now my heart, and Damon's, can finally be at peace. He almost went crazy without you," Dimitri muttered sadly.

"I'm getting you out of here. Delilah, tell the guards to—"

"I don't want to leave. I want to stay here," he interrupted.

"But why?" I asked softly.

"Because Damon hates me, and I'm not ready to face him. Don't worry about me; I'll be fine. I'll get over it," he tried to reassure me, but I didn't like his tone—not one bit.

"Delilah, can you drive me to Damon's company? I need to talk to him," I said. She nodded.

"You don't have to talk to him about me, Clara," Dimitri said.

"Well, I want to. Just so you know, Damon may be angry, but you're still his brother. Remember that," I said before leaving with Delilah.

We soon reached the car, and Delilah drove to Damon's company. It had been so long since I'd been there, I'd almost forgotten how huge it was—and that was just one of his company buildings within the pack. He had many scattered across the continent.

Now wasn't the time to be impressed; he needed a scolding.

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the staff. This was a stark contrast to their previous treatment of me.

"Luna Clara, Madam Delilah," a woman greeted, bowing slightly.

"I'd like to speak with my husband. Is he in his office?" I asked. She shook her head.

"No, he's in a meeting with shareholders and doesn't wish to be disturbed," she informed me. I knew I should wait, but my anger needed release before the meeting ended. I needed to speak to him now.

"Take me to the conference room," I ordered. Her eyes widened.

"But ma'am…"

"Do you think my brother would be happy to hear that you challenged his wife? She said you should take her to the conference room," Delilah interjected. The woman immediately bowed.

"Of course, this way, Luna," she said. I nodded, but noticed Delilah wasn't following. I turned to her with a questioning look.

"Damon won't mind you walking into his meeting, but he'll definitely mind if it's a fight, so I'll wait outside for you. Go get 'em!" she encouraged. I smiled, then followed the woman.

"You'll take the private elevator to the seventh floor, the conference floor. Just walk into the first office on your right, Luna," she explained. "You're not coming with me?" I asked. She shook her head.

"Workers like me aren't allowed on those floors," she explained. I nodded and entered the elevator.

The elevator doors opened, and I walked into the conference room, overwhelmed by the number of eyes turning towards me.

"Clara? What are you doing here?" Damon asked, slowly rising from his chair, his eyes wide.

"I need to speak with you now, Damon," I said. A frown appeared on his face.

"Luna Clara, you can clearly see we're in a meeting. You can wait outside until—"

"I didn't ask you to speak to my wife, Jonathan. Ever speak to her in that tone again, and I'll have your tongue ripped out. Everyone out; the meeting is adjourned," Damon ordered. They all scrambled out, except Luca.

"Clara, if this is about Dimitri, I don't want to hear it," Damon said wearily. I frowned and walked towards him.

"Well, it is about him, and I'm going to talk, and you're going to listen," I said sternly, earning a surprised look from Damon and a whistle from Luca. Damon glared at him, and Luca immediately raised his hands in surrender.

"I'll be outside," he muttered, leaving. Damon grabbed my hand and seated me in his chair, then knelt before me.

"Look at you. You should be at home resting, not walking around. Your feet are swollen," he said, removing my shoe and massaging my feet.

It was so hard to be angry with him when he was so loving and caring.

"Damon, we need to talk about Dimitri, and I want you to listen carefully"
