Damon
A smile touched my lips as I watched Clara sleep peacefully. I gently closed the door, walked to the bed, and sat beside her. "Why do you stress yourself so much?" I murmured, caressing her face. She always helped others, especially me, and I wished I could always be there for her in return.
She groaned softly, then slowly opened her eyes, gazing up at me with those beautiful hazel eyes I adored. I leaned down, kissing her nose and then her lips.
"Did I wake you?" I asked softly. She shook her head. "I was waiting for you. Come lie down with me," she said. I needed no further invitation and climbed into bed.
"I missed you," I murmured, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her close.
She giggled, gazing up at me. "You were only gone an hour, Damon," she murmured.
"But every minute felt like an hour when I'm away from you. Let's just stay here; I don't need anyone or anything but you," I said, tightening my arms around her.
"You know we can't. You'll be Alpha King soon, and…"
"If that's the problem, I'll renounce the throne. Then we can go far away, build a family—away from the drama, the danger, everything. That's the life I want for you, our child, and our future children—a peaceful life," I revealed. She was quiet for a moment, then pulled away to look at me. She raised a hand, and I melted under her touch as she caressed my face.
"I want that too, but I want that peace for everyone. If we leave, what happens to your family? The wolf pack? We're on the brink of war, Damon. I feel my uncle's plan is diabolical, and we need to be ready. We need to strategize, and fast," she said, and I frowned.
"But…"
"After we win, then we can leave, if you still want to. But I don't want our child to hide their identity. I want peace, Damon. We have to fight for it," she added, and I knew she was right.
If it weren't for my reputation, we wouldn't be in this mess. How could I fix it? The other supernatural beings, along with human hunters, were about to attack. We needed to be prepared.
"Spoken like a true Luna Queen. I love you so much," I murmured, kissing her. "I'll always protect you, no matter what," I murmured against her lips as I slowly climbed on top of her.
"How did your conversation with Dimitri go?" she asked breathlessly as I removed her gown. I growled softly.
"Never mention another man's name when I'm about to make love to you, Clara," I muttered through clenched teeth, capturing a swollen nipple in my mouth, making her cry out. Her breasts had grown fuller—she was perfect.
"I can't wait to make love to you so intensely you forget everyone else's name but mine," I said, removing my clothes and making love to her.
Several rounds later, I was reluctant to pull away; she felt incredible. I tried not to climax too quickly, wanting to remain inside her, but she soon began to fall asleep, her body tired. After I climaxed inside her, I pulled out and lay beside her, pulling her close.
"Good night, my love," I murmured. She was too tired to reply and soon fell asleep. I fell asleep as well, waking to Clara gazing down at me.
"Good morning," she murmured. I raised an eyebrow.
"You're up early. Good morning," I replied, kissing her lips.
"I couldn't sleep—I'm excited. We get to see our child today," she revealed, making me smile.
"Is that why you're staring at me?" I asked. She frowned.
"What? Do you have a problem with it?" she asked. I chuckled, wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her onto my chest.
"We should feed you before we leave," I murmured, caressing her hair. She sighed.
"I can't eat before an ultrasound, Damon," she said, and I tilted my head.
"Okay, but immediately afterward, we're getting food."
"Goddess, you're going to turn me into a whale if you keep feeding me like this," she grumbled.
"It doesn't matter what you become, as long as our child is healthy, you're healthy, and I love you. Let's get dressed." After a few minutes, we got out of bed.
We showered, got dressed, and Clara wouldn't let us leave until I ate breakfast. In her words, I didn't eat well enough.
Then we got in the car and headed to the hospital. I squeezed her hand, sensing her nervousness.
"It's going to be okay," I murmured, kissing her.
Soon, we arrived. Clara had several tests to ensure the baby's health.
The test results would take time, and I was too excited to wait, so I suggested we have the ultrasound regardless.
We were led to the radiology department.
"Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Donovan. It's a pleasure to serve you today," Dr. Amber greeted with a smile. She was getting older, but she'd delivered my mother and was the only one I trusted with Clara.
"Ready, baby?" I asked, caressing Clara's cheek and looking into her eyes. She took a deep breath and nodded.
"I'm ready," she announced. I smiled, kissed her, and led her to the bed.
She lay on her back while the doctor applied gel to her stomach before the scan began.
"You both need to look at the screen," the doctor announced. I turned from Clara to the screen.
I furrowed my brows, confused. Why were there two heads? My eyes widened in realization. No it couldn't be
"It seems you're having twins, Mr. and Mrs. Donovan. Congratulations!"
