Chapter 15
Clara

I was quiet, listening to Liam’s breathing.
“Can we talk, please? I’ve been trying to reach you, but it seems you blocked my number,” he said. I scoffed. What did he expect after treating me like garbage?
“What do you want, Liam? I already gave you the freedom to be with your fated. What do you want from me?” I asked softly. He sighed.
“I want to apologize. I was a fool for treating you that way. I believed Veronica’s lies and drifted away. I only realized how wrong I was when you left. I love you, Clara. You’re all I think about. Please come back. I’ll be better. I’ll make it work. You, me, and Veronica…” He paused as I scoffed.
“You want me to share you? I was with you for four years, and you want me to share you? Shame on you, Liam. I’m with my fated mate now. I don’t need you,” I murmured.
“I’ll do anything to get you back. What can I do, Clara? I miss you so much,” he said. My heart clenched. Why did I still love him after how he treated me? Why did I feel butterflies as he admitted he missed me?
“Choose me. That’s the only way I can be with you. You’re getting married soon, so I doubt that’ll happen. Goodbye, Liam,” I murmured, hanging up and blocking his number.
I threw my phone aside, wiping away tears. He didn’t deserve them. It was time to move on.
“I can feel you standing there, Damon,” I said, turning around. Damon stood at my door.
“Why is your door always open?” he asked, walking in. I sighed.
“What do you want? Are you here to laugh at my misery? You said we shouldn’t be in each other’s space, so leave,” I murmured, turning away and lying on the bed.
“This is my house, so you’re in my space,” he murmured, approaching the bed. I sighed, lacking the energy to argue.
“Please just leave me alone. I want to be alone,” I murmured.
“I wish I could, but I have this urge to comfort you. It’s weird,” he murmured, seeming confused, which made me smile.
I slowly sat up and turned to him.
“You’re my mate; it’s normal for you to care about me,” I murmured. He shook his head.
“That can’t be it. I don’t care,” he said, and I rolled my eyes.
“Your wolf cares, and your wolf is part of you, dummy,” I muttered. He glared but said nothing.

We stared at each other until I sighed.
“Is this your way of comforting me?” I asked. He nodded.
“My presence should be enough,” he said. I sighed. I’d never seen anyone more narcissistic.
“Well, it isn’t. Please leave. I’d like to be alone,” I muttered, turning away. He then spoke:
“He didn’t deserve you, and still doesn’t. You’re my wife now, and it angers me to see you crying over another man. We’ll go to the wedding, and you’ll get over him. I’m going out, so don’t look for me,” Damon said. Before I could respond, he left the room. I stared at the door for a while before smiling.
I sat there for a while, then stood. He was right; Liam didn’t deserve me. I had a new life, even if it wasn’t permanent. I could make the most of it.
I freshened up. I still didn’t have any clothes, so I put on another one of Damon’s shirts—luckily, this one was slightly longer than the last.
I put my hair in a bun and left the room. Damon wasn’t around, so I didn’t search for him.
The maids and butlers greeted me, and I smiled back. As soon as I left the house, I breathed in the fresh air.
This pack was beautiful, unlike Liam’s. Every statue was gold, and the bushes and flowers were well-maintained.
I learned I was in the Donovan Resort, with different mansions for the Alpha King’s family. The largest belonged to the Alpha; ours was a close second.
Ours… I almost laughed. Damon had made it clear the house was his, not ours.
I shook off the thought and was about to walk toward the garden when I heard a voice:
“You must feel like you’ve hit the jackpot, right, slut?” I didn’t need to turn around to know it was Alicia. I recognized her screeching voice.
“Alicia, ever so lovely to meet you,” I said sarcastically, turning. Her eyes blazed with anger.
“How dare you call me by my name? Know your fucking place!” she yelled, gathering a crowd. I remained calm. In situations like this, it’s best not to show emotion.
“I am married to the Alpha King’s son. If anyone deserves respect here, it’s me, and I don’t appreciate being called a slut. If you’ll excuse me…” I started to turn away when she grabbed my hair, pulling me close and digging her claws into my neck.
“I don’t know what games you and Damon are playing, but I know your relationship is fake,” she said. I winced as her claws dug deeper. Was she trying to kill me?
Then, someone pushed Alicia away, and a loud slap landed on her face. I fell to the ground, coughing, clutching my neck. I saw it was Delilah.
Delilah turned to me, fear flashing in her eyes. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.
