Chapter 152

CLARA

After our little disagreement, I tried to stay angry at Damon. I thought that if he thought I was mad, he might give in and let me do what I wanted. But knowing Damon, I knew that wasn't going to happen. I couldn't stay mad at him for long—I'm a sucker for that man—so I turned my anger on Delilah.

"How was I supposed to tell you if Damon said I shouldn't? You have to understand," she said, following me.

"You're my best friend, Delilah. This affects all of us, so I see no reason why I'm being kept in the dark," I said, without turning around. She sighed.

"I don't know why you're mad at me. Damon was the one who gave the order," she muttered under her breath, but I heard her clearly.

"Well, you know how difficult Damon can be. Of course, he wouldn't want me to know, but I expected you to tell me," I said.

"Okay, I'm sorry. Stop being mad at me," she murmured, wrapping her arms around me. I sighed. There was no use being angry anyway.

"What are we going to do to help Damon?" I asked, turning to her.

"This is why Damon didn't want to tell you; he doesn't want you getting involved and hurting yourself," she said, and I frowned.

"Well, I am involved because this affects not only Damon but all of us as well. I have to help," I said. She went quiet for a while.

"Luca told me you said you wanted to talk to your uncle? What if he kidnaps you again? Damon was a mess during that period, and I don't trust your uncle," she said.

"I don't trust him either, but I know he wouldn't hurt me. Not even because I'm his niece, but because he feels so much guilt over what happened to my parents. He wouldn't want to repeat the same mistake," I explained. She sighed.

"I don't know, Clara…"

"I'm not asking any of you to be involved. If you're worried Damon will find out you helped me, then…"

"Are you serious? I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about you and your unborn child. You cannot get hurt, Clara. Damon will lose his senses, and that's even worse than any war that's about to take place," she said. I nodded.

"I understand, and I'm going to be extra careful. I just need to talk to him. We'll talk in a public space where he can't do anything," I said. She scoffed.

"He kidnapped you on a public bus, Clara. I don't think it's a good idea…"

"What other ideas are there? My uncle and his people need to back down so we can focus our attention on that… monster," I said, a shiver running down my spine as I remembered what Sebastian had become. That wasn't normal; he must have done something to himself.

"Clara…"

"I can help you." We turned at the sound of the voice. My eyes widened when I saw Dimitri.

"You're already on thin ice with Damon, Dimitri. This time, Damon wouldn't just throw you in jail," Delilah said. He rolled his eyes.

"He asked me to stay away from her, so I'm already risking my life here. But if she wants to help, she should be given the opportunity. I heard you encountered Sebastian?" he asked, turning to me. I nodded.

"Can you explain what he looked like?" he asked. I nodded slowly.

"He had a wolf's face and he was standing on two feet. Damon said Sebastian was the Lycan King, but I've never heard of Lycans having horns and scales. He looked like a devil," I explained. I immediately saw the horror in Dimitri's eyes.

"We are doomed. I never thought he'd be able to achieve it. If I had known, I would have killed him earlier," Dimitri muttered, running his fingers through his hair. This alarmed me.

"Is something wrong? Who is he?" I asked, grabbing his shoulder.

"Sebastian is in fact the Lycan King, but he performed a ritual to make himself immortal and more powerful. I was told the ritual would kill him, so I never bothered to stop him. But now that you've said this…" He trailed off in horror.

That monster was immortal? How were they supposed to defeat him?

"I need to speak with Damon; he needs to know this," Dimitri said.

"Know what?" We turned to the voice. I frowned when I saw Damon; Luca was behind him. My eyes widened.

"I thought I told you to stay away from my wife?" Damon asked, grabbing my arm and pulling me toward him. He glared at Dimitri.

"That's not the most important thing now, Damon. She said Sebastian is immortal. That explains why he has horns and scales," I said. He furrowed his eyebrows.

"What?" Damon asked.

"While I was away, I kept an eye on the humans and the Lycans, because I knew they were your strongest enemies. I'd been told that Sebastian was undergoing a ritual to make himself immortal, but that the ritual would kill him. No one had ever succeeded, so I never bothered to stop him," Dimitri explained. I looked up at Damon to see if he was horrified or scared, but his expression was blank.

"That explains why he's been going around killing various species and beings. He was using their DNA to complete his damned ritual," Luca pointed out. From the look on Damon's face, he was thinking the same thing.

"Luca, get the car ready," Damon ordered. I frowned.

"Where are you going?" I asked as he pulled away from me.

"I'm going to see this immortal with my own bloody eyes."
