Chapter 45: Damon

"Has she settled in?" I asked as soon as Luca entered my office. "Yes, she seemed to like the house. She wants to decorate it, so I'll have an interior designer there tomorrow," he mumbled. I scoffed. So she plans on staying a while, huh? "Did she ask about me?" I asked. He slowly shook his head. "Mention me?" "Not once, Alpha," he mumbled. I sighed, leaning back in my chair. I was losing my mind.

"I think something's wrong with her, though. She seemed sad," Luca pointed out. I'd noticed that too, but I can't know what's wrong if she won't talk.

"I don't even care anymore. Two can play this game, and I'm much better at it. If she doesn't want me, fine. I've never begged for anyone's affection. In fact, if I announced I was single, I'd be inundated with women," I boasted. He scoffed. "Maybe your narcissism is why she doesn't like you," he muttered under his breath, but I heard him. I picked up my pen and threw it at him; it missed his eye by an inch. "Mind your tone," I snapped. He bowed his head. "Sorry, Alpha. Won't happen again," he mumbled. I sighed.

"Son!" My father's voice boomed, and I groaned. Here comes the nagging. He stormed in, anger in his eyes. "What's this I hear? You sent your wife away? Are you serious?" he demanded. I sighed and dismissed Luca. "We had a disagreement," I mumbled. He scoffed. "Your mother and I have had countless disagreements, but I've never sent her out of the house. That's dishonorable, son."

"This is necessary for Clara and me, and we're nothing like you and Mother. We need this break," I said. He sighed. "You and Clara fight every few days. If I didn't know better, I'd say you don't like each other." That used to be true, and I wished it were still the case.

"Can you just leave me alone?" I murmured. He stared at me for a moment before sighing. "You don't plan on living your married life like this, do you? She can't be there, and you here, Damon." I slammed my fist on the table. "Do you think I like it this way? I'm losing my mind, Father!" I blurted out, unable to hold it in any longer. I should never have agreed to a no-strings sexual relationship with her. These emotions, these feelings it all started there. My father said nothing more. I retreated to my room and tried to sleep. I had an important meeting tomorrow with my stockholders, and I dreaded seeing Liam. I always felt the urge to smash his face into a cement wall.

The next morning, I was up early and went downstairs to the dining room for breakfast. The maids brought my coffee, and I sat down with Luca. They served us both, and he immediately began eating. "Won't we wait for Clara?" I asked, then snapped back to reality. She wasn't here. "Erm, Alpha…" Luca began. "Shut up," I muttered, angrily shoving food down my throat. I felt like I was forcing myself to eat. After a while, I stood up. Luca wasn't finished, but he had to follow me. We walked to the car, and I took the keys from him. "I'll drive," I said, getting into the driver's seat. Luca got in, gave me a look, and I started the car and sped off.

"Where are we going?" he asked after a while. "The office. Where else?" I replied. He cleared his throat. "This isn't the way to the office; it's the way to…" I slammed on the accelerator to cut him off. As expected, I arrived at Clara's house. I parked around the corner and watched her walk out. She was dressed in tight jeans and a work shirt. She looked beautiful, but then again, she looked beautiful in anything. She was about to get in her car when she paused, turned towards us, and my breath hitched.

"She saw us," Luca muttered. We both held our breath. She got in her car, and I exhaled as it sped off.

"So this is what you've been reduced to? Stalking your wife?" Luca asked. I glared at him. "I'm not stalking her. I'm making sure she's okay," I muttered, starting the car and driving towards the company. "By stalking her. Man, you're obsessed," he muttered. Usually, I'd deny it, but there was no point anymore. It was obvious.

I was about to enter the company when I saw Liam getting out of his car. He saw me, smiled, bowed, and approached. "Good day, Alpha Damon," he greeted. My eyes trailed down his body before returning to his face—a face I wanted to punch. "Good day, Liam," I replied. He tried to hide his anger at my informal address, but I saw it, and it made me smirk. I turned to leave when he said, "I heard there's trouble in paradise. I heard Clara moved out." I slowly turned back, and he smirked. "I'm thinking of paying her a visit after this meeting. What do you think?" He smiled before walking past me. I clenched my fist. "I'm going to kill the motherfucker…"

The passage still contains some inconsistencies and unclear phrasing. Further editing for flow and narrative consistency would be beneficial. The final sentence is also abruptly cut off.
