Chapter 110: The Trap
Julia immediately realized she had spoken too quickly and brought up that unfortunate woman in prison again. โForget it, forget it. Jasper, letโs go downstairs and entertain the guests.โ With that, the two of them left in a huff.
Summer felt exhausted. I knew that simply saying Fraser is her boyfriend wouldnโt convince anyone. Besides, I wasnโt very confident either. What was supposed to be the happiest day had turned into the same dull, heavy mood as past birthdays. It seemed I just wasnโt suitable to celebrate my birthday.
Summer went over and pulled back the curtains. In the courtyard of the villa, the atmosphere was lively as glasses clinked and noble ladies and gentlemen began to dance. There was a knock at the door. โMs. Stewart, Madam, and Sir have asked you to come down. The banquet is about to begin.โ Summer acknowledged and took a deep breath, preparing to go downstairs.
The room where Summer had changed was at the bottom of the second floor. When she stepped out, she walked down a long corridor. Halfway there, a door beside her suddenly opened without warning. A strong hand shot out like lightning, grabbing her wrist and pulling her inside. Summer stumbled a few steps before she saw Margaret standing opposite her, glaring fiercely. Her sharp, hawk-like eyes gleamed with a cold light, fixed on her prey. The room was pitch black, with only the faint light from the window flickering in. The eerie atmosphere sent shivers down Summerโs arms.
โMargaret, what kind of game are you playing?โ
Margaretโs lips curled into a sinister smile. โSummer, only one of us can exist.โ Through the dim light, Summer could see a hint of madness in Margaretโs eyes. โMargaret, Iโm not in the mood for your games today. I have to go downstairs for my birthday party.โ Summerโs voice was cold. โThere are guests outside. If you continue to cause trouble, arenโt you afraid that everyone will see your true face?โ With that, she turned to leave.
Margaret suddenly lunged forward, grabbed Summerโs arm with tremendous force, and pulled her toward the window. Summerโs wrist turned red from the grip, and she swung her arm back, breaking free. Margaret stumbled and fell toward the window, half her body hanging over the edge. At that moment, Harveyโs voice came from outside the door. โMargaret, have you changed your jewelry? Whatโs that noise?โ Margaret looked down at the window, her eyes filled with determination. โSummer, after today, you will know what it means to be ruined.โ โCrack.โ The bedroom door was pushed open from the outside by Harvey. โThud!โ At the same time, Margaret jumped out of the window, her body falling like a broken doll.
Summer watched as Margaret fell from the second-floor window, unable to react in time. A deafening roar echoed through the mansion. โMargaret!โ Harveyโs figure shot forward like lightning. He desperately reached out to catch Margaret as she fell, but all he grabbed was empty air. Harveyโs face twisted in rage as he glared at Summer, his eyes filled with murderous intent. He shouted angrily, โSummer, I saw everything! You pushed Margaret out of the window! You tried to kill her, you evil woman!โ โThwack!โ Harvey, using his natural male strength, stepped forward and swung his hand, slapping Summerโs fair, delicate face. The force of the slap caused Summer to stumble and fall heavily to the ground.
Summerโs gaze turned icy as she looked at him. โHarvey, you fool!โ Harvey became even more enraged when he heard Summer insult him. โSummer, you are done for today. If anything happens to Margaret, Iโll make sure you go to jail. Come downโฆ now!โ With that, he grabbed Summerโs wrist and dragged her down the stairs like a rag doll.
Outside the villa, by the pool, a group of young ladies and gentlemen were dancing and chatting. Suddenly, there was a deafening โthud.โ The melodious music in the mansion abruptly stopped. Everyone turned around in shock to see Margaret fall out of the window. By the pool, Margaret lay pale and lifeless, her face drenched in sweat from the pain. Her legs were broken, and she was screaming in agony.
