Chapter 110: The Trap

Julia immediately realized she had spoken too quickly and brought up that unfortunate woman in prison again. โ€œForget it, forget it. Jasper, letโ€™s go downstairs and entertain the guests.โ€ With that, the two of them left in a huff.

Summer felt exhausted. I knew that simply saying Fraser is her boyfriend wouldnโ€™t convince anyone. Besides, I wasnโ€™t very confident either. What was supposed to be the happiest day had turned into the same dull, heavy mood as past birthdays. It seemed I just wasnโ€™t suitable to celebrate my birthday.

Summer went over and pulled back the curtains. In the courtyard of the villa, the atmosphere was lively as glasses clinked and noble ladies and gentlemen began to dance. There was a knock at the door. โ€œMs. Stewart, Madam, and Sir have asked you to come down. The banquet is about to begin.โ€ Summer acknowledged and took a deep breath, preparing to go downstairs.

The room where Summer had changed was at the bottom of the second floor. When she stepped out, she walked down a long corridor. Halfway there, a door beside her suddenly opened without warning. A strong hand shot out like lightning, grabbing her wrist and pulling her inside. Summer stumbled a few steps before she saw Margaret standing opposite her, glaring fiercely. Her sharp, hawk-like eyes gleamed with a cold light, fixed on her prey. The room was pitch black, with only the faint light from the window flickering in. The eerie atmosphere sent shivers down Summerโ€™s arms.

โ€œMargaret, what kind of game are you playing?โ€

Margaretโ€™s lips curled into a sinister smile. โ€œSummer, only one of us can exist.โ€ Through the dim light, Summer could see a hint of madness in Margaretโ€™s eyes. โ€œMargaret, Iโ€™m not in the mood for your games today. I have to go downstairs for my birthday party.โ€ Summerโ€™s voice was cold. โ€œThere are guests outside. If you continue to cause trouble, arenโ€™t you afraid that everyone will see your true face?โ€ With that, she turned to leave.

Margaret suddenly lunged forward, grabbed Summerโ€™s arm with tremendous force, and pulled her toward the window. Summerโ€™s wrist turned red from the grip, and she swung her arm back, breaking free. Margaret stumbled and fell toward the window, half her body hanging over the edge. At that moment, Harveyโ€™s voice came from outside the door. โ€œMargaret, have you changed your jewelry? Whatโ€™s that noise?โ€ Margaret looked down at the window, her eyes filled with determination. โ€œSummer, after today, you will know what it means to be ruined.โ€ โ€œCrack.โ€ The bedroom door was pushed open from the outside by Harvey. โ€œThud!โ€ At the same time, Margaret jumped out of the window, her body falling like a broken doll.

Summer watched as Margaret fell from the second-floor window, unable to react in time. A deafening roar echoed through the mansion. โ€œMargaret!โ€ Harveyโ€™s figure shot forward like lightning. He desperately reached out to catch Margaret as she fell, but all he grabbed was empty air. Harveyโ€™s face twisted in rage as he glared at Summer, his eyes filled with murderous intent. He shouted angrily, โ€œSummer, I saw everything! You pushed Margaret out of the window! You tried to kill her, you evil woman!โ€ โ€œThwack!โ€ Harvey, using his natural male strength, stepped forward and swung his hand, slapping Summerโ€™s fair, delicate face. The force of the slap caused Summer to stumble and fall heavily to the ground.

Summerโ€™s gaze turned icy as she looked at him. โ€œHarvey, you fool!โ€ Harvey became even more enraged when he heard Summer insult him. โ€œSummer, you are done for today. If anything happens to Margaret, Iโ€™ll make sure you go to jail. Come downโ€ฆ now!โ€ With that, he grabbed Summerโ€™s wrist and dragged her down the stairs like a rag doll.

Outside the villa, by the pool, a group of young ladies and gentlemen were dancing and chatting. Suddenly, there was a deafening โ€œthud.โ€ The melodious music in the mansion abruptly stopped. Everyone turned around in shock to see Margaret fall out of the window. By the pool, Margaret lay pale and lifeless, her face drenched in sweat from the pain. Her legs were broken, and she was screaming in agony.
