Chapter 157: Trevor Showed Up

There were only five desks, and two were covered in white draft papers. It looked like something rejected by every potential client, a pile of discarded drafts. This design firm was even more miserable than Summer had imagined.

โ€œYes, Iโ€™m looking for Sienna.โ€

Hearing the voice, Sienna walked out of an office with a bright smile. โ€œSummer, youโ€™re here!โ€ She turned to introduce her to the young woman. โ€œMerry, this is our new shareholder, and also your other boss. Call her Ms. Stewart.โ€

The girl named Merry finally took a proper look at Summer. โ€œHello, Ms. Stewart, Iโ€™m Ms. Siennaโ€™s assistant.โ€

Sienna had planned a longer introduction, but seeing the time, she cut it short. โ€œSummer, I scheduled a meeting with a potential client a few days ago to discuss a design proposal. Iโ€™ll talk to you more when I get back. For now, Merry will show you around and help you get familiar with our situation.โ€

Summer nodded. โ€œAlright, go ahead.โ€

Sienna grabbed her design drafts and stepped out of the office, then suddenly remembered something and turned back. โ€œOh, by the way, the other office is yours. I already cleaned it up yesterday.โ€

Merry, who appeared to be in her early twenties, was lively and cheerful. She dutifully explained everything to Summer, from the founding of Aspira Design Institute to its present state. After listening, Summer reached a conclusionโ€”no clients.

She couldnโ€™t tell if it was bad luck or if her scumbag husband was deliberately sabotaging them. Every time they got close to sealing a deal, at the final step, the client would suddenly back out. If Summerโ€™s investment hadnโ€™t come through, the firm would have been forced to shut down next month. But even with the money, if things continued like this, the firm wouldnโ€™t last long.

During the lunch break, Summer propped her forehead with one hand, her mind running through every possible useful client she could reach. Meanwhile, her other hand absentmindedly sketched on a draft paper with a pencil. When she finally snapped back to reality, she realized she had drawn the sharply chiseled features of Fraser.

Summer stared at the drawing, momentarily lost in thought. She recalled his words from yesterday: โ€œThereโ€™s no one else, only you.โ€

Does that mean there really was no one else when he was with me? That so-called childhood sweetheart just threw herself at him? But what did it matter? It only meant that, for now, he was interested in her.

Even if she was the real daughter of the Stewart family, she still wasnโ€™t on the same level as a family like the Graham family. Not to mention, she had lived outside for twenty years before being acknowledged, so she was considered a wild girl raised in the streets.

Summer lowered her eyes and, almost stubbornly, picked up an eraser, rubbing away every trace of the man on the paper.

Suddenly, Merry, who was sitting beside her, let out a loud gasp while staring at the news on her phone.

โ€œWow! Famous Ameros doctor Josh and the illegitimate daughter of the Smith Group, Peyton, have been sentenced to ten years in prison for kidnapping and extortion!โ€

Summer glanced at Merryโ€™s phone and saw the bold headline.

7:46 PM Oct.

Seeing that Summer was listening, Merry assumed she was interested. She spun her chair around and leaned closer, launching into gossip mode.

โ€œMs. Stewart, there are rumors that Trevor has a fiancรฉe who really loves him, but unfortunately, his heart was always with Peyton. That poor fiancรฉe kept trying to hold on and ended up making a fool of herself. Even when Trevor threw a wedding for his true love, she forced herself to endure it for love! I mean, isnโ€™t she stupid? In novels, sheโ€™d be that annoying, clingy side character. Ms. Stewart, if you were in her shoes, what would you do?โ€

Summer didnโ€™t know how to respond. Was she supposed to say that she was that pathetic side character? She forced an awkward smile.

Trevor might look decent, but letโ€™s be real! Heโ€™s a scumbag who was two-timing. If it were me, Iโ€™d pull a revenge-heroine moveโ€”first, take over his familyโ€™s business, then destroy his little dick, and finally, walk down the grand avenue of success as a strong, independent womanโ€”

Before she could finish, Merry suddenly saw a sharply dressed man walk through the door.

What was going on today? Why is our rundown design studio suddenly so popular? And why does this man look oddly familiar?

Merry quickly grabbed her phone and compared his face with the one in the news. He looked just like Trevor. Merryโ€™s eyes widened as she stood up. โ€œYouโ€ฆ youโ€™reโ€ฆ Trevor? Who are you looking for?โ€

Summer followed Merryโ€™s gaze and looked over. She froze for a moment. Trevor had lost some weight. The dark circles under his eyes were pronounced. He still carried that cold, unapproachable aura, but now there was an undeniable sadness beneath it. He stood there, staring straight at her.

Merryโ€™s eyes darted back and forth between Summer and Trevor.
