Chapter 211: Arranged Marriage
At work, he was strict, decisive, and had the final say. But in private, he could joke around with the senior executives. The investment director sighed and gave a thumbs-up. โMr. Graham, youโre really lucky.โ
Fraser lifted his eyes slightly. โHow do you know Iโm lucky? Have you been hiding in my house, watching my luck?โ
The deputy director of the planning department suppressed a smile. โWe wouldnโt dare, but that little mark on your neck looks nice.โ
Fraser reached up to touch his neck, his eyes narrowing smugly as he spoke lazily. โAnd you think youโre allowed to look?โ
Everyone fell silent.
At night, outside the second-floor bedroom, four expert doctors were reporting Maximusโs condition to Helen. Karena said, โMadam Graham, Mr. Graham is back.โ Helen nodded and waved the doctors away.
Fraser walked upstairs at an unhurried pace, handing his suit jacket to a waiting servant. โHowโs Grandpa?โ
Helen pretended to be angry and smacked his shoulder lightly. โYou finally decided to come home. I had to call you over to get you here.โ
Fraserโs voice was lazy. โDidnโt you manage to drag me back anyway! Youโre pretty good at that.โ
Helen couldnโt help but laugh. โYou brat, always teasing me.โ
โWhat did the doctors say?โ
Helen sighed. โYour grandfather was getting better after waking up, but after learning what Brandon did this time, he got so upset that his condition worsened. The doctors said he canโt handle any more stress, or it wonโt look good.โ
Fraser pushed open the door and stepped inside. Maximus lay in bed, surrounded by advanced medical equipmentโheart monitors, a ventilator, and even surgical tools. Five top-tier doctors were on standby in the next room.
At nearly 80 years old, Maximus had thinning white hair, but his face still carried the authority and presence of his younger years. Hearing the door, he slowly opened his eyes. A nurse standing beside him immediately adjusted the bed to help him sit up.
Maximusโs sharp gaze fixed on Fraser. His voice was hoarse but still commanding. โHowโs the Oblistan situation handled?โ
โNo issues.โ
โBrandon wonโtโฆ give up so easily. Heโs waiting for the right time to strike while Iโm down, trying to make a comeback. If I hadnโt gone soft on him back then, this wouldnโt be happening nowโฆโ
Speaking for too long. Maximus coughed several times in a row. A nurse stepped forward and gave him some water.
Brandon had spent the past twenty years building a new branch of Graham Group in Oblistan. But his business wasnโt clean; more than half of it was tied to the underground world. That alone proved how ruthless and lawless he was. This time, he had deliberately delivered a heavy blow to Graham Group, seeking revenge for past grudges.
Fraser didnโt even lift his eyes, his voice cold. โDonโt worry. Graham Group wonโt go down.โ
Maximus knew that back when Fraser was studying in Ameros, he had founded Exzear Fundings Group and made a name for himself on Wall Street, creating a financial empire. If Fraser had never come back to take over Graham Group, his personal wealth would have likely surpassed the Graham familyโs assets.
Maximus took a deep breath. He was old now, one foot already in the grave. โFraser, my final wish is for the Graham family and the Lastesh Group to officially unite through marriage. This year, you and Ms. Anne should finalize the date. That way, Brandon wonโt dare to make any reckless moves.โ
Hearing this, Fraserโs sharp eyes lifted slightly, his gaze turning cold and unreadable. Just as he was about to speak, a hand pressed lightly on his shoulder. He looked up and saw Helen shaking her head at him.
After leaving the bedroom, Fraser leaned back lazily on the couch, his face emotionless, though it was clear he wasnโt pleased. He crossed his legs and picked up the teacup on the table, taking a sip. Helen had a love for tea. Everything from the tea leaves to the teaware was of the finest quality.
Fraser casually placed the cup back on the table, his gaze cool as he glanced at the maid making tea. โItโs bitter.โ
The servant, highly skilled and chosen specifically for her expertise, trembled slightly at his complaint. โIโm sorry, Iโll make a new batch right away.โ
Helen, sitting to the side, knew this wasnโt about the tea at all. It was Fraser showing his displeasure toward her.
