Chapter 234: Unforeseen Encounters

โ€œNo way, Mr. Graham is engaged?โ€

โ€œHigh-society families always match up with suitable partners; whatโ€™s so surprising about that? I just checked onlineโ€”Mr. Grahamโ€™s in-laws are actually Oblistan nobility, the Lastesh Group!โ€

โ€œWow, their wedding is going to be a major event, a real-life prince and princess story! Iโ€™m so jealous!โ€

โ€œFirst, youโ€™d need to be reborn into that kind of life! You think just anyone can marry Mr. Graham?โ€

Summer washed her hands, waiting for the gossip to fade before turning off the water; her fingers were red from scrubbing too hard. Head bowed, her pale face unreadable, she stared at the floor and walked out. She missed a step and stumbled, leaning forward, about to fall. In the next second, a strong hand grasped her slender waist, and suddenly, Summer was up against a firm body. The familiar scent of pine hit her. Turning her head, she saw that impeccably handsome face.

Fraserโ€™s casual voice echoed in the hallway, โ€œWhat were you thinking about, not watching where youโ€™re going?โ€

Looking into Fraserโ€™s deep eyes, Summer felt a slight ache in her chestโ€”not severe, just like an invisible needle pricking deeper. After a moment, she said, โ€œThank you.โ€ Realizing she was still in his arms, Summer immediately pushed him away. Fraser saw her reaction; his eyes lazily flickered, but he said nothing.

He pulled out a cigarette from his pocket, tapped the end of the pack with his index finger, drew one out, and placed it between his lips, then pulled out a lighter. The purple-blue flame sparked, lighting the cigarette. The flickering light cast an unreal glow on his face. Fraser took a leisurely drag. Summer walked on but couldnโ€™t help looking back at the man standing there smoking, his tall and lean silhouette as perfect as a sculpture.

She couldnโ€™t resist and said, โ€œI heard youโ€™re getting married. Congratulations.โ€

Fraserโ€™s eyes narrowed slightly, his dark gaze fixed on her a few steps away. His tone was mocking, โ€œDo you care?โ€

Summer heard her own voice, nearly numb, โ€œDoes it matter if I care?โ€

Fraserโ€™s dark eyes lingered on her, his gaze as if trying to see through her. Word by word, he said, โ€œIf you say you care, Iโ€™ll call it off.โ€

Summerโ€™s heart skipped a beat unexpectedly. She looked at Fraser, her lips twitching slightly. โ€œMr. Graham, you seem to have forgotten what our relationship is; still in the mood to joke?โ€

Fraserโ€™s dark eyes stayed on the woman a few steps away. Her demure gaze and curled eyelashes hid her emotions; only her tightly pressed lips were visible.

โ€œmmer, do you want to come back to my side?โ€

Itโ€™sโ€ฆ irrelevant whether you donโ€™t love me; just being near me is enough. Fraserโ€™s voice was deep and seductive, huskilyโ€ฆ

Summer blinked slowly, opening her mouth slightly. At that moment, the sound of someone talking to a server nearby carried over.

Summer saw Lucas and snapped back to reality. I may be a master at games, but Iโ€™m not playing this one anymore. She turned and walked toward him. Fraser frowned, grabbing her slender wrist to stop her.

Lucas nodded, his expression thoughtful. He saw Fraser standing not far away.
