Chapter 74: Hiding a Woman
Summer hastily shoved the man in front of her away. She immediately lowered her head. At some point, the top button of her blouse had come undone. What a shameless man! With swift fingers, Summer fastened the button and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear.
Fraser, leaning lazily to the side, didn't even lift his eyes as he drawled, โWhat are you so afraid of? No one would dare come in.โ
Summer shot him a sharp glare. If word got out that Fraser had spent hours alone in his office with a woman, without so much as opening the door, people would assume she was desperate. Fraser, however, couldn't be bothered to care, but he did wonder who had the audacity to interrupt him at that moment. Still, not wanting Summer to feel too uncomfortable, he casually adjusted his suit jacket before striding toward the door. He pulled it open, his tall, imposing frame filling the doorway.
Standing outside was Shawn Graham, grinning from ear to ear. Shawn was Fraserโs cousin and the director of the project department at the Graham Group. When he had returned to the company from the Easthaven project site, he passed the front desk and overheard a few employees excitedly gossiping. Curious, he slowed his steps, casually eavesdropping. To his surprise, the subject of their discussion was Fraser. Apparently, Fraserโs assistant had personally gone down to escort a woman up to his office. Shawn raised an eyebrow. With Fraserโs usual demeanor, there was no way he would suddenly pay such particular attention to a woman. Ever since returning from abroad, Fraser had indulged in a reckless lifestyle, constantly surrounded by breathtakingly beautiful women. Yet, he remained notoriously indifferent. Forget physical intimacy; he wouldnโt even tolerate a single stray hair clinging to him. Once, a woman with no sense tried to cozy up to him as he lounged idly on the sofa. After that incident, no woman dared to provoke the cold and untouchable Havenbrook Bossman.
Shawn was burning with curiosity about who had managed to enter Fraserโs office. Coincidentally, he had a document requiring Fraserโs signature, so he eagerly made his way upstairs. When the door swung open, Fraser stood in the way, completely obstructing the view inside. Shawn craned his neck, glancing left, then right. Is he hiding a woman? And doing it this well?
Fraser, irritated by the intrusion, spoke coolly. โYouโre looking so intently. Should I just let you have my office instead?โ His tone was casual, but Shawn knew better. This was Fraserโs warning before he lost his patience.
Shawn chuckled awkwardly. โWell, I just came to update you on the Easthaven project. I need your signature on this document. How about we discuss it inside?โ
Fraser snatched the file, scrawled his signature in bold, decisive strokes, and tossed it back. โNow get lost.โ
Shawn caught the document. โI heard thereโs a stunning ladyโฆโ
โDo you still want to keep your eyes?โ Fraser cut him off and slammed the door in his face. Shawn barely stepped back in time. Any slower, and his nose wouldโve taken the hit. Isnโt this a bit excessive? He wouldnโt even let me catch a glimpse?
Inside, Fraser walked straight to the couch and sank down. No project mattered more than her. His gaze darkened as he locked eyes with Summer. With a slight curl of his finger, he beckoned. โCome here.โ
Summer didnโt hesitate, stepping forward. She intended to sit beside him, but before she could, he suddenly pulled her onto his lap. She found herself staring into his deep, obsidian eyes, tracing the sharp angles of his nose, the thin curve of his lips. They say men with thin lips canโt be trusted. Is that true? But one thing was certain. The man in front of her was dangerously attractive. Summer cupped his face in her hands. Fraserโs lashes fluttered as he leaned in, prepared to reclaim the kiss that had been interrupted earlier.
Fraser let out a breath of laughter, rolling his eyes. This woman truly has no sense of romance. It seems she wonโt even be serious in bed until this money issue is resolved. Without hesitation, he picked up his phone and dialed the finance director. โTransfer 500 million to Stewart Group. Now.โ After hanging up, he turned back to Summer, his expression expectant, as if demanding a reward. โSatisfied?โ
