Chapter 1
His sincerity made everyone in the crew happy.
The crew praised him repeatedly, saying he was handsome and wealthy, a gentleman and easy to get along with.
When everyone praised him, they also praised Vonnie at the same time, saying Vonnie was lucky and that he and Vonnie were a perfect match, with him being talented and her being beautiful.
Amidst the praise, I saw Quentin sitting sullenly in the corner.
Johnathan also brought a snack care package specifically for Gilbert. Just because foreign snacks may not be as delicious as the delicacies here in Freybourne, Gilbert opened a pack of snacks and took a bite, only to spit it out the next second. He then handed out those snacks to his assistant.
Johnathan glanced over and muttered to me, "Gilbert is really picky."
I ignored him and just lowered my head in silence, pondering my new script.
He also threw aside the gift he brought me, without even opening it.
Johnathan came over and glanced at me, asking, "Are you still angry?"
I closed the script and said to him expressionlessly, "Mr. Dunlap, the use of 'still' in that question is curious. May I ask, what did Mr. Dunlap do wrong? Why would he think I am angry?"
Johnathan was taken aback for a moment, then he chuckled at me and said, "You have 'anger' written all over your face, do you really need me to point it out?"
"Besides, you didnโt even glance at the gift I brought you."
I pursed my lips, not really wanting to talk to him. He was in the same boat as Reynaldo, keeping everything from me.
Johnathan glanced at me again and said, "Okay Esmie, donโt be mad at me, or Vonnie will think Iโm bullying you again and come after me."
"I was not angry," I said lightly, then took the gift and stood up to leave.
Johnathan hurriedly stopped me, โWhatโs wrong, Esmie? If youโre mad at me, just say it, donโt ignore me like this.โ
โI said I wasnโt angry, nor was I ignoring anyone. I was just a little tired and wanted to go back to rest.โ
Johnathan clicked his tongue and said, "You say youโre not angry, but look at your face; you were never like this before."
I sighed deeply and said without much emotion, "It seems that Mr. Dunlap really did something wrong, otherwise why would he always think I am angry."
โUmโฆโ Johnathan was at a loss for words.
I didnโt say anything more, just lowered my head and looked outside. Now that Johnathan is back, I donโt have to keep watching over Vonnie all the time.
Little did I know, I had only taken a few steps when Johnathan blocked my way again.
He stood with his hands on his hips, looking like he couldnโt stand it, and said, โForget it, forget it, Iโll tell you everything, is that okay?โ
I looked at him expressionlessly. After all, I didnโt say anything.
Johnathan glanced at me and said, โYes, I didnโt go on a business trip these days; I went to Reynaldoโs place.โ
โOh,โ I responded lightly without asking further.
Johnathan instantly frowned and said, โDonโt you want to ask me about Reynaldoโs situation?โ
โYou were all afraid that I would worry, so you kept things from me, right?โ I looked at him expressionlessly. โTherefore, I will obediently and cleverly stop asking more questions.โ
Johnathan said, โ
โIf Mr. Dunlap has nothing else to say, then I will go back first,โ I said as I was about to leave.
Johnathan pulled me back again. He said angrily, โYou really have a lot of patience! Well, Iโll tell you.โ
