Chapter 216

The man leaned back on the sofa, laughing carelessly. I now realize he was truly shameless. He even took a video the night I asked him to solve the problem. Just thinking about it makes me angry.

Seeing my angry face at the door, he smiled lightly and said, โ€œEat quickly; then we can get things done.โ€

โ€œReynaldo!โ€ I just canโ€™t understand why a man seemingly so restrained in his desires harbors such thoughts. His gaze, every time he looks at me, is impure. In simple terms, itโ€™s as if he wants to devour me.

โ€œIf you donโ€™t eat soon, your takeout will get cold,โ€ the man gently reminded me.

I took a deep breath and walked over, though I didn't want to be near him. I dragged a small stool and sat down in front of him, opening the takeout on the coffee table.

I ordered spaghetti. When I opened it, the powder had clumped, and there was no soup leftโ€”it was completely dry. I immediately lost my appetite.

Reynaldo leaned back and said, โ€œYou eat this? Can you stomach it?โ€

โ€œWhy canโ€™t I?โ€ I retorted. โ€œIt smells delicious.โ€

I opened my fork, intending to show him I would eat it. To my surprise, the noodle lump broke apart too easily. Before I could pick it up, it fell back into the bowl.

Feeling embarrassed, I quickly picked up a piece of beef and put it in my mouth. The meat was tough and not delicious. The man sat on the sofa, staring at me without blinking. I gritted my teeth and swallowed the beef.

Reynaldo grinned and asked, โ€œWas it delicious?โ€

I nodded and said, โ€œItโ€™s delicious.โ€ After that, I lowered my head and took another bite of the noodles.

Suddenly, a large hand pulled the bowl away. I looked up to see him throwing my takeout into the trash.

I stood up angrily and said, โ€œReynaldo, what are you doing?โ€

Reynaldo stood up and said expressionlessly, โ€œI will take you out to eat.โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t go!โ€ Hadn't he already eaten with Kimberly? He suddenly offered to take me out. Was it pity for my having to eat takeout?

Forget it. I donโ€™t want anyoneโ€™s pity.

I pointed to the door and said, โ€œMr. Humphrey, please go back. Iโ€™m tired and want to rest.โ€

Reynaldoโ€™s face turned cold. He walked toward me, his dark, oppressive gaze fixed on me.

โ€œDid you go out to eat with me?โ€

His voice was calm and indifferent, yet the tone held an irresistible command.

I tugged at my clothes, still wanting to refuse. He leaned close to my ear and smirked ambiguously, โ€œYou donโ€™t have to go out if you donโ€™t want to; we can continue what we didnโ€™t finish just now.โ€

I knew what he meant by โ€œunfinished business.โ€ I glared at him angrily, โ€œHooligan!โ€

Reynaldo chuckled and turned to walk outside. I sighed in frustration, grabbed my phone and bag, and followed him.

Reynaldoโ€™s car was parked downstairs. After getting in, he drove in a different direction, avoiding the bustling alleyway and market he'd just been to. After passing through several deserted alleys, the car quickly merged onto the bustling main lane. The cityโ€™s prosperity was a stark contrast to the area weโ€™d just left.

I looked at him and asked, โ€œHow did you know where the house I rented is?โ€

โ€œThere is nothing in this world that I donโ€™t know,โ€ he said. โ€œSo, Esmeralda, donโ€™t even think about hiding again, or else I will really break your legs.โ€ He spoke with fierce determination.

I instinctively touched my stomach. To prevent my baby from being taken away, I had to escape. I anxiously asked him, โ€œWill you really break my leg?โ€

Reynaldo furrowed his brows and suddenly parked the car by the roadside.
