Chapter 612

โ€œReynaldo, it was her. She was the one who made Mikaela sick yesterday.โ€

โ€œMikaela was fine at first; it was just that she made Mikaela cry, and then Mikaelaโ€™s illness flared up.โ€

I looked at her coldly and said, โ€œWhether it was me who made Mikaela sick, or you made her sick, you should know in your heart.โ€

โ€œWhat bad things did you do yesterday that I need to help you remember now?โ€

โ€œYou stop talking nonsense. I always listen to Mikaela, and Mikaela likes me too.โ€ Itโ€™s you. Mikaela found you annoying, but you kept coming in front of her every day, causing trouble. โ€œWho made her angry if not you?!โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s enough!โ€ Reynaldo cut off Kimberlyโ€™s words with a casual tone. He said flatly, โ€œMy mom needs quiet. I hope you donโ€™t make noise here!โ€

โ€œAm I making noise here? Reynaldo, Iโ€™m telling you, this woman is up to no good. As long as this woman is around, Mikaelaโ€™s illness will never get better.โ€

Reynaldo ignored her and pulled me past her, walking out. I turned around and saw Kimberly glaring at me with a resentful look on her face. That look, like that of a twisted madman.

Arriving downstairs, Reynaldo didnโ€™t have much of an appetite. I was about to take him to the nearby restaurant for a plate of ravioli when he suddenly pulled me into his arms and held me tightly.

I was taken aback and asked in a low voice, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong? Are you worried about Momโ€™s condition?โ€

Reynaldo did not speak; he buried his head in my neck, deeply. I could feel the heaviness of his mood and the tiredness of his body.

I patted his back gently and whispered, โ€œDonโ€™t be afraid; I will always be with you.โ€

Reynaldo tightened the hand around my waist and said, โ€œThe doctorโ€™s meaning is that my mom needs to arrange a kidney transplant surgery as soon as possible. The longer it is delayed, the more serious the kidney infection will become.โ€ Over the years, kidney disease has caused many complications. The doctor said, โ€œMy mother had held on for so long; it was already a miracle.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, a suitable kidney source will be found.โ€ I could only comfort him in the same way as I comforted myself. Originally, I was going to tell him about my momโ€™s situation. I could see that he was already exhausted from worrying about his motherโ€™s illness, so I didnโ€™t want to burden him with my motherโ€™s situation.

There was no other way at the moment, so we could only wait patiently for the hospital to find a suitable kidney source for our mother. The mealtime had long passed at this point, and there werenโ€™t many people in the restaurant. I ordered a large portion of ravioli for Reynaldo, but he didnโ€™t eat much.

He leaned back in the chair with his eyes closed for a while, then turned to me and said, โ€œEsmeralda, will you accompany me tonight?โ€

I nodded. On my momโ€™s side tonight, Quentin was there with her, so I wasnโ€™t worried.

Reynaldo smiled and squeezed my hand, โ€œIโ€™m glad to have you by my side.โ€

I grabbed his hand and didnโ€™t say anything. Tonight Reynaldo seemed a bit fragile.

He propped his forehead with one hand and suddenly whispered, โ€œSometimes I really hate myself, always so useless.โ€

Back then, I didnโ€™t want to owe Mr. Palmer a favor, so I went to the hospital without his knowledge to have a kidney compatibility test done, but it didnโ€™t match. Now my mother needs a kidney transplant again, but I still canโ€™t donate.
