Chapter 629
This year, winter in Freybourne was particularly cold.
Upon exiting the elevator, the cold wind rushed in. I tightened my down jacket and took out my phone to dial Reynaldoโs number. Just as I dialed, I heard a familiar ring at the door.
I subconsciously looked up and saw Reynaldo leaning against the car, looking at me pitifully. He was dressed in a black coat, with a light gray scarf around his neck. His facial features were deep-set and stern in the cold wind, but his eyes were somehow watery, with a hint of pity.
I sighed in my heart and walked over.
โWhy are you here?โ
He silently took my hand and placed it over his heart, warming it. He looked at me and said after a long pause, โI came earlier and called, but you didnโt answer. I thought you didnโt want to see me anymore.โ
โHow could it be?โ I said.
He stared at me intently and sighed softly, โAre you mad at me?โ
I shook my head and said nothing.
He explained, โRegarding todayโs matter, I was not favoring Kimberly. I was just worried that you misunderstood her. After all, she really didnโt need to treat your family like that, and sheโฆโ
โOkay, letโs not mention her anymore.โ I really donโt want to mention Kimberly at all now. And my mom was right, he was deceived by Kimberly. So with the deception and the illusion of that woman, I could only convince him with strong evidence. Besides, what I said was of no use.
Reynaldo looked at me deeply. He thought I was angry, and he tightly held my hand against his chest.
I looked behind him and saw that it was snowing again. I said to him, โItโs getting late, letโs go eat.โ
He stood still.
I sighed and said, "Iโm hungry. If you donโt want to eat, then you can go back. Anyway, the food at my home is almost ready, Iโll go up and eat.โ
With that, I was about to pull my hand out, but he unexpectedly pressed my hand harder, looking at me with a hint of resentment in his eyes.
I furrowed my brows and looked at him, โSo what do you want to do? Tell me! And why did you suddenly come to find me?โ
Reynaldo looked at me steadily, with a slightly aggrieved and awkward expression. After a long silence, I forcefully pulled my hand out and said, โIโm really hungry. If you have nothing to say, Iโll go back to eat.โ
However, as soon as I turned around, he suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me into his arms. The manโs chest was cold and hard. I frowned and pushed him. He held me tighter.
He whispered in my ear, his low voice wrapped in discomfort and awkwardness. โI came to coax you, I was afraid you would be angry.โ
I wasnโt actually angry, really. I was very frustrated that I couldnโt expose Kimberlyโs malicious true colors. At that moment, the man spoke to me in a low and pleasing tone, and my heart softened.
I raised my hand around his strong and thin waist, and muttered, โIโm not angry, Iโm just really hungry. How about you take me out for a big meal?โ
Reynaldo paused for two seconds, then chuckled softly, โOkay, you can have whatever you want to eat.โ
โI want to eat the dishes cooked by Mr. Humphrey himself.โ
โOkay, itโs up to you. Shall we go buy groceries now?โ
