Chapter 45

I glanced back at the apartment behind me and asked him, โ€œWhich floor does your girlfriend live on?โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with the 15th floor?โ€

I didnโ€™t say anything; I just looked up at the 15th floor.

In terms of appearance, the apartment in front of us was very nice. On the electronic screen downstairs, rental and sales information for the apartment was scrolling, and the price was not cheap at all.

Just then, the question arose.

I caught up with Quentin briskly and asked, โ€œDidnโ€™t you say before that your girlfriendโ€™s hometown is in a mountain village where there is no signal at all? Then how does she still have money to rent such a nice apartment?โ€

Quentin squinted his eyes and looked at me with a dissatisfied expression, โ€œLook, you are doubting this and doubting that again. Her hometown is in the mountains, but that doesnโ€™t mean her family has no money, and it doesnโ€™t mean she herself doesnโ€™t earn money, right? You see, our grandmother also lived in a remote town, but that doesnโ€™t mean our mother didnโ€™t have money back then, right?โ€

I pursed my lips and remained silent.

His words did make some sense.

Well, weโ€™ll see whatโ€™s going on when we go up later.

Quentin bought several light foods and some warm fruits.

I took out the prepared gift from the car and followed him into the apartment.

The decoration in the apartment was very good, almost decorated according to the standards of a star-rated hotel.

We took the elevator to the 15th floor.

Quentin led me to the door of a room at the far end of the corridor.

I thought he was going to knock on the door, but he turned around and instructed me, โ€œRalda, pay attention to your smile. Donโ€™t look so expressionless, or Kimora will misunderstand and think you donโ€™t like her.โ€

I rolled my eyes in silence, then flashed him a bright smile and asked, โ€œIs this good enough?โ€

Quentinโ€™s face darkened, โ€œIs it real?โ€

I immediately stopped laughing and grunted, โ€œThen I wonโ€™t laugh; I canโ€™t laugh!โ€

Quentin clicked his tongue and stopped insisting on me, raising his hand to ring the doorbell.

He rang the doorbell and told me, โ€œDonโ€™t say anything random later; just ask about her health, show more concern for her.โ€

โ€œOh.โ€

โ€œAlso, try to smile sincerely later; donโ€™t fake it, and donโ€™t keep a straight face.โ€

โ€œOh.โ€

โ€œDid you bring the other gift as well? When you give it to her later, say a few nice words, or Iโ€™m afraid she wonโ€™t accept it.โ€

I suppressed the anger that was building up inside me, gritting my teeth and muttering, โ€œOh!โ€

Quentin saw my dark expression, chuckled in surprise, and stopped talking.

He rang the doorbell three times in a row, but no one came to answer the door.

Quentin busily explained to me, โ€œKimora must have fallen asleep and didnโ€™t hear the bell, or maybe sheโ€™s just getting up to open the door now. Letโ€™s wait a bit.โ€

I didnโ€™t say a word.

After waiting for a while, Quentin rang the doorbell again, but no one came to answer the door.

โ€œShe might have actually fallen asleep.โ€

Quentin muttered to himself and then took out the key from his pocket to unlock the door.

I was speechless, โ€œI have the key; why knock on the door? Itโ€™s like Iโ€™m afraid of scaring his girlfriend.โ€

As the door opened, a faint fragrance wafted into the room.

I looked around and saw that the room was well-lit, with a fresh and elegant decoration.

This is a two-bedroom, one-living room suite.
