Chapter 28

Kimberly was still saying indignantly.

I smiled at her and said, โ€œSo, Ms. Palmer came to catch the adulterer with a group of people?โ€

โ€œIf you can walk the straight and narrow on your own, why would you be afraid of me catching you?โ€ Kimberly said to me, looking excited and angry. It made it seem like I "cheated on" her man. Whatโ€™s even funnier is that the guys behind her all kept their mouths shut and let Kimberly slander me.

I lazily leaned back in the chair and smiled faintly at Kimberly, saying, โ€œItโ€™s really a trap for catching adulterers, but what kind of adultery is Ms. Palmer trying to catch?โ€ Seeing Ms. Palmerโ€™s angry look, one would think that Mr. Russell was your man.

โ€œYou always care about other men like this, what do you think, Quentin?โ€

Quentinโ€™s face darkened, revealing a hint of indescribable suppressed forbearance. Kimberly glanced back at him, her face slightly changing. She exclaimed to me angrily, โ€œYou are fooling around outside by yourself, how dare you bring others into this? Reynaldo is so sincere to you, can you treat him like this?โ€

โ€œMaking a mess?โ€ I chuckled, โ€œThen may I ask, Ms. Palmer, how do you know that your eyes saw me and Mr. Russell messing around in here?โ€

Kimberly was taken aback by me and finally said, โ€œItโ€™s all because we arrived early. If we had come later, you might have done something dirty to Mr. Russell.โ€

โ€œOhโ€ฆ You really hit the jackpot this time, finally catching such a good opportunity to slander me. How come you havenโ€™t seized it yet?โ€

โ€œYou should have timed it right to barge in, catch me and Mr. Russell red-handed, and take photos as evidence. Thatโ€™s what catching an affair effectively means, understand?โ€

โ€œYou, you, youโ€ฆโ€ Kimberly seemed speechless after I confronted her, and finally turned to Reynaldo in a hurry, pretending to say, โ€œReynaldo, look, she admitted it herself that she was going to do that inappropriate thing with Mr. Russell. Luckily we arrived early, or elseโ€ฆโ€

โ€œNonsense!โ€ Without waiting for her to finish, Gilbert, who had been silent with a stern face, suddenly slammed the table. The sound was not small at all, and it came suddenly. Except for Reynaldo, who remained expressionless, everyone else was startled. Johnathan came to his senses and embraced Vonnie, giving Gilbert a big eye roll.

Gilbert ignored him and just frowned at Kimberly, โ€œI invited Ms. Duffy to dinner openly. You said we were having an affair. Your imagination is so rich, why donโ€™t you go write a script and be an actor?โ€

โ€œI... am not, Mr. Russell, Iโ€ฆโ€

โ€œAnd another thing! Your acting is so bad, instead of staying at home to work on your acting skills and script, why are you here causing trouble?โ€ Who am I to you, Ms. Duffy? Do we have any relationship with you at all? What are you trying to catch?

โ€œYou are so eager to catch someone cheating, why donโ€™t you go have an affair yourself, or let your man have an affair, and then you can catch each other cheating; wouldnโ€™t that be more fun?โ€

I stared at Gilbert in astonishment. I didnโ€™t expect this man to be so good at arguing; his combat power is simply off the charts. Kimberly was dumbfounded for a second, then her face turned crimson with embarrassment. Quentinโ€™s face looked even worse. Vonnie hung her head, her shoulders shaking constantly, presumably trying to hold back laughter. Johnathan pursed his lips, flipped his eyelids and looked at the ceiling, also with a suppressed smile. Reynaldo frowned slightly, his sharp eyes scanning Gilbert up and down.
