Chapter 953
Johnathan chuckled and accidentally bumped into Madisyn, who was just coming out of the kitchen.
Madisyn glanced at the black bag in his hand and asked with a smile, โHey, Mr. Dunlap, whatโs in the bag?โ
โGood stuff,โ Johnathan replied.
I was speechless. โIf itโs a good thing, then what is it? Mysterious. Really."
Madisyn was curious and reached out to grab the black bag, but Johnathan playfully dodged away.
โMadisyn, Mr. Humphrey hasnโt given you a day off in a long time, right? Today, Iโm giving you two days off.โ
Madisyn just thought he was joking: โMr. Dunlap, stop kidding me. I have to take Mr. Roderick and Miss Estelle out tonight.โ
โOh, Roddy and Essie, I was going to take them away later.โ
โMadisyn, go back and see your newborn grandson; you can come back on Monday.โ
Madisyn did indeed have a newborn grandson, so when Johnathan said that, she was smitten.
She said, โYou really want to let me go on leave? What if Mr. Humphrey blames meโฆโ
โHow is that possible? Mr. Humphrey is very kind-hearted. Think about how you treated him in the past, but he never retaliated against you at all, right? He even treated you so well. So, why would he blame you for such a small matter?โ
Madisyn felt a little ashamed.
After being tempted by Johnathan repeatedly, Madisyn finally took a vacation with peace of mind.
I looked at Johnathan suspiciously. What trick is this guy playing again? Taking Essie and Roddy away again, and now they were sending Madisyn away too. It feels like thereโs a strong conspiracy going on.
Sensing my suspicious look, Johnathan grinned at me and said, โDonโt worry, I wonโt harm you guys. Iโm just hoping you and Reynaldo will get along.โ
I was about to speak when Vonnie suddenly exclaimed, โOh, Ralda, I have a gift for you! I forgot to bring it in from the car. Wait for me, okay.โ
She said and ran out in a hurry.
Before long, she brought over a paper bag and mysteriously handed it to me, saying, โThis is for you.โ
I was about to open it when she stopped me and giggled, โDonโt open it now. Go upstairs first, and then you can look at it after we leave.โ
I frowned and looked at her with a face of doubt. What were these two people doing?
Vonnie ignored my suspicion and pulled me upstairs, saying, โIโd better go up with you to put this gift away, so you donโt peek.โ
I: โฆ
When she set the gift down, Johnathan was coming out of the kitchen, and the three black bags were gone.
I asked him, โWhat did you just take to the kitchen?โ
โHey, I saw something interesting on the way and bought some to bring to you guys.โ
โEsmie, Vonnie and I havenโt eaten yet. Can we join you for a meal later?โ
I nodded, โItโs possible, but Reynaldo is not at home, and he may not come back here today.โ
That man was still angry; he even blocked me. From what I knew about him, he probably wouldnโt come back tonight.
Johnathan and Vonnie exchanged a glance, and after a moment, both of them anxiously asked me if I had another argument with Reynaldo.
So, I briefly told them about the parent-child activities I missed and what happened at the kindergarten gate.
Vonnie listened, pursed her lips, and remained silent.
Johnathan glanced at me with his chin resting on his hand and said, โItโs no big deal. Look how worried you are. You donโt know, that man is easily appeased. Just try to coax him later.โ
