Chapter 128

Rachel had no other choice. She couldnโ€™t possibly sleep under a bridge. She glanced at her phone. William still hadnโ€™t sent her a single message.

The look he had given her before leaving the barbecue place was practically burned into her mind: anger, shock, disappointment, and countless other emotions all tangled together.

Even so, she didnโ€™t feel a shred of guilt. In fact, there was even a faint sense of satisfaction.

It was just a meal with Tyler, and he had already reacted like that?

Now she was starting to look forward to seeing Williamโ€™s face after she left Yurelia City for good. Maybe heโ€™d even thank her for clearing the way so he could be with Samantha.

โ€œItโ€™s fine,โ€ she said.

Tyler stared at her for a few seconds. โ€œAlright then. Get in.โ€

Rachel got back in, and Tyler drove straight to his apartment.

The moment she stepped inside, the place felt unfamiliar.

โ€œThis doesnโ€™t look like where you brought me the last time.โ€

Tyler casually tossed his suit jacket onto the couch and replied in a half-serious tone, โ€œWell, that place was compromised. William already found it, remember?โ€

His tone was light, almost teasing. The way he said it felt vaguely suggestive.

The idea that flickered through her mind made her cheeks flush and quickly spread to the tips of her ears.

When she came back to her senses, Tyler had already come close. The mix of sandalwood and cigarette on him filled her nose. It wasnโ€™t unpleasant. Oddly enough, it was calming.

His lips curled into a smirk as he looked her over with amusement. โ€œWhatโ€™re you blushing for?โ€

Rachel steadied herself. โ€œNothing. Itโ€™s just a little warm in here.โ€

She quickly walked a couple of steps away to put some distance between them.

โ€œDonโ€™t you ever open your curtains?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s too bright. I donโ€™t like it.โ€

She glanced around and noticed something awkward. โ€œDo you only have one bedroom?โ€

Tyler, now without his jacket, flopped onto the couch without a care. His arm draped lazily over the armrest. โ€œDo I look like someone who shares living space?โ€

She shouldnโ€™t have asked. She looked at the couch. โ€œIโ€™ll sleep here tonight then.โ€

โ€œOf course. Or were you hoping Iโ€™d take the couch?โ€

Rachel rolled her eyes. She was used to his sharp tongue by now. He didnโ€™t spare anyone.

When one was in someone elseโ€™s home, one had to play nice. โ€œDo you have any extra blankets? Even a throw would be just fine.โ€

โ€œYeah, thereโ€™s one in the closet upstairs. Help yourself.โ€

Tyler stretched out his long legs and folded his arms across his chest. He closed his eyes as if to rest.

Rachel didnโ€™t say anything more and headed upstairs. She opened the closet and pulled out a comforter.

Just as she was about to turn and leave, the hem of her shirt snagged something, pulling it to the floor.

She quickly placed the comforter aside and bent down to pick up what had fallen.

It was a photo frame.

Normally, it wouldnโ€™t have caught her attention. It was probably a family photo or one with friends.

But when Rachel got a good look at it, she froze.

Gerald was in the frame, and Tyler stood next to him.

Her brows furrowed deeply.

What was the connection between Gerald and Tyler? Why would they have a photo together?

She remembered when Tyler first met her mother, he had said he didnโ€™t have any family.

His last name was Hunt, not Lewis.

If there really was some significant connection, William wouldnโ€™t treat him like a complete outsider.

Suddenly, Rachel heard Tylerโ€™s sarcastic voice from behind. โ€œIโ€™m just a myth, Rachel. Donโ€™t get obsessed, especially not with my photo.โ€
