โIโIt was Samantha.โ
Tyler sneered. โWell, at least youโre honest. What else did Samantha say?โ
โShe said if I could get some spicy photos of the two of you, sheโd give me a bonus.โ
Tyler raised a brow. โHow about you come inside now? Iโll help you stage a few.โ
โNโNo need for that.โ
Now that heโd been caught, he wouldnโt dare actually ask Tyler for anything outrageous. He knew perfectly well why Samantha was offering so much money.
It was because this man wasnโt just anybody. If it were some average guy, sheโd never offer that kind of cash. That was the key point.
โHow much did she offer you?โ Tyler asked.
โSeven grand,โ the guy said nervously, raising seven trembling fingers.
Tyler thought for a moment. โIโll give you twenty-one thousand. Photograph her instead.โ
The guy looked stunned. โTwenty-one grand?โ
Heโd never seen that kind of money in his life. Most of the time, his jobs only paid a few hundred, and maybe a couple grand at most. Nobody had ever offered him this much.
โYeah. Just follow my instructions. Youโll get the full amount. And donโt worry, it wonโt affect what youโre getting from Samantha. Iโll delete a few photos. You can still give her something.โ
โOkay, whatever you want. Iโll shoot whatever you say.โ
Tyler gestured with his finger. โCome here.โ
After Rachel woke up, she quickly freshened up and even made breakfast since she couldnโt reach Tyler by phone.
She was just about to eat when Tyler walked in. He was humming a tune.
Rachel listened for a second. It sounded oddly familiar. Was she hearing it wrong?
Tyler was humming the theme song from an animated film. It was a childrenโs song.
She smiled reflexively. Did this man have a childlike heart? It was hard to believe. Someone so cold and aloof was actually humming a childrenโs song.
Tyler walked up to her. Before she could hide her smile, he caught it.
Hands in his pockets, he looked at her and asked, โNever seen someone sing before? Is that funny to you?โ
Rachelโs smile froze. โNot really. Itโs just that the song and your whole persona donโt really match.โ
Tyler sat down, grabbed the sandwich on the plate across from her, and took a big bite without asking. He asked, โThen what do you think suits me? The River Flows East?โ
Rachel instantly imagined the tune.
โThe river flows east, and the stars in the sky point to the Big Dipper.โ
This was killing her.
As soon as she snapped out of it, she realized something.
Why did it matter what Tyler wanted to sing? If he wanted to sing, let him sing. It wasnโt her business.
She quickly composed herself.
โSing whatever you want. Childrenโs songs are fine too.โ
There was nothing wrong with having childlike innocence.
Tyler polished off the sandwich in a few bites.
โBy the way, Samantha hired someone to secretly photograph us. The pictures are actually pretty good. Wanna see?โ he asked.
The way he said it made it sound like it was the most normal thing in the world, as if someone just randomly snapped a photo of him on the street.
Rachel frowned instantly. She lost all her appetite.
โArenโt you worried at all?โ
Tyler took a sip of milk. โWhy should I be? Do you think Iโm scared of some gossip?โ
