Samanthaโs face went pale. She tilted her head up slightly, seeming so fragile, as if she would collapse into Williamโs arms at any moment.
โWilliam, I donโt feel so good. Can you take me home?โ
William gave her a nod and turned to Rachel. โRachel, Iโll take her home first. How long will your IV drip take? Iโll come back to get you later.โ
Rachel politely declined. โYou donโt have to. Ceciliaโs coming to pick me up. Sheโs been feeling down lately. I promised Iโd keep her company.โ
William studied her with a deep, unreadable gaze for a few seconds but didnโt try to persuade her. โSuit yourself.โ
He and Samantha turned to leave the ward, but just as they reached the door, William suddenly stopped and looked back at Noah.
โDr. Trevor, if this is how your nurses behave, maybe your hospital doesnโt need to be in business much longer.โ
Noah jolted as if heโd just been electrocuted. His posture snapped straight. โPlease rest assured, Mr. Lewis and Mr. Hunt. Even if you hadnโt said anything, we wouldnโt tolerate someone like that here.โ
William looked away and left the room with Samantha.
Noah sighed in relief and immediately turned to the nurse, his expression now stern. โStarting tomorrow, you donโt need to come in anymore. Submit your resignation letter.โ
The nurse looked like she was about to cry and pleaded with him. โPlease, Dr. Trevor, canโt you give me another chance? I swear I wonโt do this again.โ
Noah didnโt even look at her. His tone was firm, with no room for compromise. โYouโve offended Mr. Hunt and Mr. Lewisโ wife. How am I supposed to protect you? Everything your supervisors told you clearly went in one ear and out the other. You ran into someone you canโt afford to mess with this time. Thereโs nothing I can do.โ
He turned back to Tyler and bowed slightly. โMr. Hunt, I sincerely apologize. Please, get some rest. Iโll leave you to it.โ
He then grabbed the nurse and dragged her out.
The room finally quieted down again.
Rachel let out a sigh and glanced sideways at Tylerโs hand. โIs your IV drip okay? Do you need a fresh one?โ
Tyler rested one hand behind his head. He seemed to smirk. โAre you just annoyed because you had to get jabbed again and want me to suffer with you?โ
Rachel slouched and lightly tapped her own mouth. โUgh, I really need to learn to shut up.โ
Tyler wasnโt the kind of guy who cared whether people worried about him or not. To him, expressions of concern were just unnecessary noise.
He yawned and stretched. โIโm taking a nap.โ
โDidnโt you say there was something wrong with the team-building proposal?โ Rachel reminded him. โYou said you needed to talk to me. Might as well go over it now while I still have the energy.โ
Tyler turned away from her and lay on his side. โI sent it to your phone. Check it yourself.โ
Rachel rolled her eyes. For someone so lazy, it was a miracle he managed to run a whole company successfully. She couldnโt wrap her head around it.
Chapter 143
Just as she was about to look away, she caught a glimpse of Tylerโs back where his shirt had ridden up a little.
There were overlapping wounds. They were starting to fade but still looked fresh enough to be from a few days ago.
โHow did you get those wounds on your back?โ she asked.
