Chapter 159

โ€œAlright, just take better care of yourself from now on,โ€ Rachel said.

She knew that going forward, there wasnโ€™t much more she could do for Cecilia.

Cecilia still had no clue.

When it was time to eat, William and Samantha sat together. When Samantha spotted Rachel, she cheerfully waved her over. โ€œRachel! Come sit with us!โ€

โ€œItโ€™s fine. Iโ€™ll just stay here. Iโ€™m too lazy to move.โ€

Samantha looked a little disappointed but nodded politely, โ€œOkay then.โ€

Rachel sat with Cecilia, and next to them was Tammy, whose face was bright red.

It was obvious sheโ€™d been holding back for a long time before she finally mustered the courage to raise her hand and call out timidly to Tyler.

โ€œMr. Hunt, we still have a seat over here!โ€ By the time Tammy finished her sentence, her cheeks were as red as a tomato. Tyler finally looked in their direction, scanning the area before walking toward her.

The female coworkers at the table couldnโ€™t help but squeal.

โ€œOh my God, itโ€™s Mr. Hunt! Heโ€™s actually sitting at our table. No way. Oh my gosh, Mr. Hunt is eating at the same table as me!โ€

โ€œI have to document this sacred moment with my phone.โ€

Some bold ones had already whipped out their phones and opened their camera apps.

The moment Tyler sat down, the entire tableโ€™s vibe changed.

Rachel felt a sudden chill down her spine, and she instinctively inched closer to Cecilia.

Tyler turned his head slightly, glanced at her, and raised his brows.

โ€œWhat? Do I have some kind of plague? Why are you scooting away from me?โ€ he asked in his usual husky voice.

He was just loud enough to be overheard.

Everyone at the table turned to look at Tyler and Rachel with curious eyes. Gossip was practically the companyโ€™s second language, especially when it involved Tyler.

Rachelโ€™s face turned bright red under the attention. She turned to Tyler, mortified, and whispered urgently, โ€œCan you not say stuff like that out loud?โ€

Tyler looked genuinely confused. โ€œWas that loud? Or are you just feeling guilty?โ€

Rachelโ€™s cheeks burned. โ€œWhy would I feel guilty? Stop twisting things!โ€

Tyler responded like he was giving a lecture. โ€œOur companies are business partners. And as partners, communication is perfectly normal. You should study the phrase โ€˜a clear conscience fears no rumorโ€™.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re being ridiculous. People are bound to assume something even if thereโ€™s nothing,โ€ Rachel replied with a frown.

He just shrugged nonchalantly. โ€œIt doesnโ€™t matter.โ€

Meanwhile, a few people nearby were whispering among themselves.

โ€œI seriously canโ€™t tell if Mr. Hunt is into Rachel or Tammy.โ€

โ€œI think itโ€™s Tammy. Didnโ€™t he come over right after she called him?โ€

โ€œCan you not ship people randomly? If Mr. Lewis sees this, thereโ€™ll be a huge misunderstanding.โ€

Rachel could hear all of it loud and clear. She lowered her head slightly and whispered to Tyler, โ€œSee? Anyone whoโ€™s even remotely connected to you becomes a target.โ€

Even Tammy, who was usually low-key and stayed out of everything, had been dragged into this mess.

Tyler was struggling to hear her through the surrounding chatter. Everyone was talking at once, and all he could see was Rachelโ€™s mouth moving nonstop.

Tyler, not exactly known for his patience, suddenly leaned in and raised his voice, โ€œWhat did you just say?โ€

โ€œHmm?โ€ Caught off guard, Rachel turned her head at the same time. Her lips accidentally brushed against Tylerโ€™s cheek.

They both froze instantly.

Rachelโ€™s first thought was, โ€˜Did anyone see that?โ€™

She glanced around in a panic, and to her relief, no one seemed to notice. She quietly let out a sigh.

โ€˜Thank goodness no one saw that.โ€™

What she didnโ€™t notice, though, was a pair of burning eyes filled with jealousy that had caught the whole thing. Tyler, on the other hand, looked completely calm. In fact, he looked at Rachel like heโ€™d finally confirmed something.

โ€œI knew it. Youโ€™ve got ulterior motives.โ€

Rachel nearly rolled her eyes. โ€œI donโ€™t have any inappropriate intentions toward you, Mr. Hunt. Donโ€™t flatter yourself.โ€
